Engvall needs banned for a few games. You can't hit a guy over the head with your stick.

I did see a lot of comments that the hit on Robertson wasn't even a penalty, which I think it was, at least Interference. But I think running Interference as much as you can get away with is a good tactic so I can't fault the guy. It is a penalty though.

I too enjoy discussing the game of ice hockey.

Today's Brazil / Croatia game (for me) reinforces the fact that it's absolutely stupid that a team game when tied is every decided via shootout.

I hate it.

Play the game until its won. Period.

My opinion but regardless good on Croatia as they were the underdog.

- There should have been a 2-minute call on Durzi for the cross-check a 5 seconds of the clip.

Roy won't even get a garlic breath in the face for one of the dirtiest plays of the year. Leafs are definitely not a team favoured by Parros or Bettman. The call was 2 minutes for interference FFS! Let's not pretend this was a reasonable call by any stretch.

Although I'll argue until the day I die that Brashear was partly responsible due to wearing a Jofa popcorn bowl on his head, and not even tying it down properly.

Not the exact same. The bruin swung horizontally towards the forehead of brashear. Much more delibrate with intent to injure. Where as the giraffes stick was already in the air, he just stupidly brought it down the helmet of durzi.
He'll get a game or two for sure and rightfully so.

That’s nothing like the Engvall play. That’s much more premeditated. Engvall gets a couple.

I don’t think the hit on Robertson was as bad as it’s being made out. It wasn’t a classical slew foot. Most of the leverage came from Roy’s shoulder.

Taking a swing at and connecting with an opposing players head with your stick is worth a game at least. The number depends on the severity of the swing and where it makes contact. Those circumstances suggest a small number (1 or 2 at the very most).

Durzi’s actions aren’t relevant. The Leaf paranoia isn’t relevant.

They may not be in your opinion but that doesn't mean they are not relevant. The DOPS looks at things like the actions of the other player and the end result of the action taken by the 'offender' all the time.

So in my opinion that makes Durzi's actions VERY relevant.

And Leaf "Paranoia"? I don't see any paranoia at all, passion, perhaps anger and sure an argument can be made if it's warranted or not but nobody is paranoid here. If Engvall got a 30 game suspension for this the overall impact to the Leafs is pretty small and some would probably even be happy about it. lol

I'm not trying saying they were the same level of severity - just that the league has to take deliberate slashes to the head seriously.

I'm with you - the league will give him 2 games to think about what he did.
