He just moved up to the first line lol they looked fine last night. I mean if they don’t get pts every game I get it he’s a bust, ain’t that right?

This is kind of an old argument when discussing Laf and or Kakko, but it rings very true

Here’s a comparison…

Tim Stutzle is great everyone loves him blah blah blah. He has 27 pts, which is very nice. He is averaging 5 minutes more TOI a game, and 8 more shifts a game compared to Laf. Kakko same thing. Same ballpark

Oh…he also has 14 ES pts to Lafs 13. So 13 pts on the PP1 for Ottawa something laf doesn’t get to do yet.

That is a big thing to consider when you say Laf should be in the minors

It’s not the points for me. Have both put up less points than we’ve expected? Sure. Can u take into account the PP/ice time? Sure. But when u watch them, Kakko stands out head and shoulders above Laf. Kakko is always noticeable out there and I think is going to develop into one of the best 2 way forwards in the game. Will never lead the league in points, but a solid 65-75 pts a year and tremendous defensively. Laf, I’m not sure what he is yet. I’ve seen lazy play from him, numerous penalties in the offensive zone out of pure laziness, coasting on some of his shifts, looking completely lost when the puck is on his stick etc. That’s my opinion from my “eye” test. Then I’ve seen spurts of, “wow, he’s close to figuring it out, kid looked great there.” That’s y I still have no idea what he will be.

It’s so hard for an NHLer to make a name for himself on a 3rd line. The clock starts now as far as I’m concerned being on the first line. It’s only fair to the guy

I do agree on the penalties he’s been taking. Very irritating

My opinion is he’ll be Claude Giroux. Which isn’t so bad at the end of the day. Maybe he’ll even play center someday. My comparison for Kakko is Nichuskin. He didn’t truly blossom until a year or two ago and now he’s a monster
