We need a list of LHD depth D to acquire. Who wants this homework assignment? Pure rental like Braun was

Nothing against Hajek or Jones necessarily, just some added depth. Preferably someone better than Braun tho

I know he really would look nice, but the injuries and the price are very scary

I would do the same Kane package I said earlier. But chychrun cost way more assets imo. He still has a great team friendly contract

Y? He missed 35 games last year and has only played 8 this year. The guy can’t stay healthy.

The thing is when he plays he’s freakin awesome. I totally get what you’re saying tho. Very risky acquisition

Problem means you have to move one Trouba, Lindgren or Kreider. Can't move Kreider or Trouba just yet.

Just for arguments sake, PP one with Chychrun. You take Trocheck off and have fox with him for his booming shot or Zibs, and Kreider to block the view. It could work🤷🏻‍♂️

Why would any of them have to go?

Don’t say cap space

This is what I wrote in my blog after Reaves was traded:
"The Rangers could use the cap relief for a scoring forward (Patrick Kane, Bo Horvat, Gustav Nyquist?) at the deadline. but don't rule out the acquisition of a third-pair left handed d-man (Jakob Chychrun, Carson Soucy, Dimitri Kulikov?), depending on if Zac Jones or Libor Hajek grabs a hold of the role. This deal provides the team much needed flexibility and available options lacking previously."

How do you expect to add Chychrun and keep, Miller KaKko, Lafreniere, Chytil, Gauthier?

Edit: Kakko has another year left on his deal. So apologies about that. Point still stands they don't have room.

I’ve been hearing for years how teams can’t do this or that because of the cap and it’s generally BS. Granted it would be Kane OR chychrun. But they’ll find a way for either

Toronto and TB was going to lose everyone and lost no one really until McDonagh. Ain’t buyin it man

Lafs raise isn’t much as of now.

Didnt Marner get like 10 million on his second deal? Laf ain’t getting that. The cap is also going up as they say.

I’ve said all along they’ve wanted to keep their numbers down for this reason (ie playing on PP1). Maybe I’m nuts lol but it’s not a terrible strategy regarding your own players. You have them by the balls may aswell utilize it, in a strategic cap space sense

My point being, once Laf gets PP1 time he is a ppg player. Same with Kakko.

Ok, but the cap is still the cap. The reason why Tampa was able to add their 2nd cup was because Kurcherov was LTIR. He was on LTIR when he shouldn't have been, hence skirting the rules. It's different now.

But who is the next massive contract we have Shesty? The big guns have already been paid. collectively fans worry way more about the cap than GMs do. They always find a taker for a dump, they always find a way to get the guy most of the time. We dump Halak maybe Blais, boom that’s 3 million. The cap goes up 2? Or something. That’s 5 and there you go I’ve done it lol

Another thing I’ve ran in my head, suppose they are shopping Kravtsov. Playing him sparingly knowing he’s getting traded. Being careful not to get him hurt as he is apparently Charmin-esque. To me that’s the only thing that makes sense as to why he isn’t playing regularly

He missed the whole season until the playoffs, that technically is within the rules. Spirit of them, maybe not, but letter of the law, it was

Been rumored as a possibility for a while but nothing confirmed. He has a very low cap hit, which is why he made the team initially. That and he can't be sent down without passing through waivers, which wasn't happening

But Jan, I remember reading reports of him practicing with them for weeks before the end of the season. That shouldn't be allowed if not active for games. They were definitely skirting the rules.

Skirting yes, breaking no. argument would be he is getting into shape and not ready for game action. Distasteful but not a violation. The owners and PA could have changed the rules when they ratified the new CBA
