4+ years of Fletcher as GM gets you the 26th ranked team in the league, and the lowest scoring team in the league. And yet he doesn't even appear to be on the hot seat.

Why are the standards of the people running the Philadelphia Flyers so damn low?

I think you're wrong about Mrazek but I just read that Steve Mason was one. How forgettable he was.

Mason as a Flyer: 100-76-36 with a .917 SV%

Hart as a Flyer: 70-69-20 with a .906 SV%

The pick # is irrelevant it is about recognizing & drafting talent. As you said Hextall failed miserably at that & that is why this team haz zero offense hexy was horrific at identifying skill opting to go for “200 foot players” instead. As previously mentioned look up the last 5 nhl drafts many players drafted after the top 5 & even a good amount drafted past 10 have turned out to out produce the #1 pick that year
- Fopa21

I respectfully disagree. Devil's are #1 after picking Hischier and Hughes both #1. Watched Pitts win multiple championships with Crosby and Malkin. Lightning win due to Stamkos and Hedman (okay, so Hedman went second). Capitals win it with Ovechkin. Chicago yada yada Sure, you can have #1's and not win, but it's unlikely you win without building around one or two #1's.
Given the salary cap changed everything for hockey, the only way to build a championship team is to tank, get one or two #1s, and then you have a chance, though nothing guaranteed.
If we remain a bubble team, we don't stand a chance of improving our odds of winning a championship in the modern salary cap era.

I suspect that in the end, their careers will be quite comparable.

LOL. Hextall drafted Provorov, Sanheim and Konecny in the first round.
- MJL

Shhhh don't ruin my fun here lol

Provorov has let me down. I think aliens of the losing broke the guy
He did hit on TK though, and thus far Sanheim is a mixed bag for me. If SanMan keeps up this current streak of play then I'm back on board with that pick.

Now let's name all of hexy's first round picks that didn't amount to anything.... and go!!

Mason's Flyers were a 90-91 point team. Hart's Flyers are nowhere near that.

Hart is now on pace to play in 61 games. Career high is 45. They only win by preventing goals. If he cannot keep this pace up, easily make top 5, IMO.

The Flyers were .558 in Mason's four full seasons as a Flyer. Part of that was because they had a goalie who started 50+ games and had a .917 SV%.

Since Hart was called up on 12/18/2018, the Flyers are a .500 team, partly because they have a starting goalie who only has a .906 SV%.

If you want to defend Hart you can say he was younger than Mason was when was a Flyer. But in terms of performance on the ice, Mason was a much better goalie for the Flyers than Hart has been so far.

Don’t forget the other key part. They’re capped out on mediocre players thanks to him as well.

Comcast literally could’ve pulled a random person off Broad street and they really couldn’t have done much worse. It’s insane.

Let’s give Sleepy Joe a pat on the back for his latest publicity stunt. Que the interview tour and Netflix Doc for Griner. Wonder how Paul whelan and his family feel about this

An American citizen getting released from a Russian gulag is a weird thing to get mad about, especially considering the elections have been over for a month already so there's no real benefit to the President or his party. Maybe you're still bitter that Doctor Oz got his New Jersey ass beat.

I saw an article on age as related to performance. If you are a forward you should display your abilities before you are 24. By 28 a decline sets in.
For the D, it starts a couple of years later to 'prove' yourself and the decline is pretty set by your late 20's.
I wonder if you broke that down into teams, if the Flyers would show that nobody is productive at any age? (LOL)

Oh Christ….next year? There’s already enough “nails” in the coffin. Fletcher’s inability to take the Flyers to that next level beyond what Hextall left is painfully obvious every single night they play. It’s not yesturday…it’s “4” years ago. That was literally his mandate….all he’s delivered is excuses. What’s even scarier is he continues to double down on his stupid decisions that’s going to make his eventual successor’s job all the more tough.
- landros 2

No doubt, there are already enough nails in Fletcher's coffin. I don't expect him to survive the season to be honest.

It's been a combo of bad development, questionable picks and horrible injury luck. The Flyers trifecta.

I don't see much from Flahr's draft history to instill much confidence. Kaprisov was a stroke of luck, not something that can be easily replicated. The rest of his picks were meh.

- Tomahawk

I can't argue with any of this, its really been a bad combination for several years now.

Kjell Samuelsson was promoted to head of player development after developing absolutely no one on defense for years. There’s your issue.

Comcast let the front office turn into a complete joke and the country club has run the franchise into the ground unsupervised.

- hereticpride

Not only this, but I always remember Kjell Samuelsson first and foremost as a really bad defenseman!

Yes. They were bad teams but definitely had more talent up front. G and Jake were closer to their primes. I thought mason provided the team some strong goalie tending when he was here.

Also. Happy hextall goal av Boston day! 35 years ago.

Hart hasn't had a great group either, but at least Mason's Flyers had some scoring ability.

About the only thing worse than the Flyers right now are those Laughton and Sanheim "Carshield"? commercials.

I know they're not actors, but at least learn the lines so you're not reading them ala like Saturday Night Live off the queue cards.

My god those were terrible to watch. Laughton wasn’t too bad but sanheim was a robot. I dont even think he blinked his eyes haha

lol - Carshield commercials in general are horrible - I think these are intentionally bad simply because those guys aren't actors
