Yes, if the new mortgage is equal or higher I can transfer it and sign another mortgage only for the difference. If it's lower however I can't.

But we don't plan to move.

Might buy a secondary home however when the housing market is back to normal and the interest rates also.

Oh yeah they can it's just that we have 3 kids and we have a new 5 bedroom attached house with a nice yard and minimal upkeep. Unless we split in which case I'm sure my GF would keep the house and mortgage I doubt we move.

Only thing I could see is my GF's parents dying and we'd probably keep their house and sell our house or rent it.

It's a very nice house that my father in law built himself a couple of years ago on a one 35 000 sq.ft land. Double garage that he works out of. Probably worth over a mil on the market now all paid for.
