I thought it was a joke, the other day, when someone here said Clarkie was giving faceoff lessons to the Flyers during practice. Turns out it was true! Next time Frosty goes up against Phil Esposito he’ll kick butt!

How long have the Flyers been rebuilding for? How about Edmonton? How long have they been building for? How about Buffalo? Vegas was an expansion team that was not built by conventional means available to other teams. They still haven't won anything. The Rangers were not built as quickly as some want to believe. They were also aided by a free agent signing of Panarin at a fairly young age and a future Norris trophy defenseman who only wanted to play for them. Not a likely repeatable path. TB didn't truly break through until 7 and 8 years after drafting Stamkos and Hedman. Not until they added Vasilevsky, Kucherov and Point did they become a truly elite team. How about Florida, who won the Presidents trophy last year. It's been 8 and 9 years since they drafted Ekblad and Barkov. They still haven't broken through. Colorado's journey to the Cup was a 7- year journey. I could on and on. You can get incrementally better on the ride and become a more fun and competitive team and have some playoff runs. However, you'd have to be extremely fortunate and not only draft some generational players but also shrewdly build around those players to do it faster than a 7-10 year period.

This mofo could sell a 1984 Chevy chevette to a handful of flyers fans today if he started selling cars today. Aoke of these chump STH would line up to buy a car from the legendary chuckles feltcher if they had the chance. These are also the same folks who continue to buy flyers gear and show up for all of the games....
He could sell used tires and make a living as well, scamming unexpected idiots who believe what he sells them

I, for one, can't wait until this slob is fired, at the very minimum. Throw him off a cliff dot all I care at this point. He has screwed up this franchise more than any other GM has

While it may take 7 to 10 years to win it should only take a few to at least be on that track and be entertaining/competitive.

On track and being an entertaining and competitive team is not completing a rebuild. Reaching the level of becoming a legit contender for the cup is. It's not likely going to happen for the Flyers just by putting Gauthier in the lineup and drafting whoever they get in the next draft.

The Flyers have been "aggressively retooling" since the Richards and Carter trades over a decade ago, and it seems the fans haven't died over or burnt down the WFC. We're on course to miss the playoffs for a third consecutive season, something that hasn't happened here in almost thirty years, and I guess we've taken that without issue too. I've got bad news for Flyers fans who "won't put up with" a seven year rebuild: we've already been "putting up with it", and regardless of if or when we commit to a rebuild we're gonna be "putting up with it" for a while to come.

It's not a back to back and he played well last game. I don't see the problem.

I dont think I was clear in my point. Both of those things can happen at the same time. Completing a rebuild while also being entertaining and on track to winning. It Colorado eight years to win after McKinnon was drafted. That also had some real slim years of missing playoffs and first round exits. It didn't make them less entertaining or not on track to being a contender during those years.

Exactly. I laugh when I read what fans won't put up with.

Your point was clear to me. You can't be on track and complete it at the same time. You can be entertaining and make the playoffs on the journey for sure. Let's not pretend though that a rebuild happens with a couple of draft picks. It doesn't. Not insinuating that you're saying that. My point is that it is unlikely that Gautheir enters the lineup next season and makes an immediate impact. Depending on who they get in the upcoming draft, maybe but also unlikely. Those two player are going to need some development time. Then the team needs to be built around those players sufficiently. The Flyers have a few players that can be a part of that now. Unknown if recent draft picks will play to that level. Bottom line is that in my opinion, any expectation that this is going to be a quick turnaround, is delusional.
