The one thing no one has mentioned is stripping Trouba of the captaincy. Everyone is firing GG, no one is stripping Trouba.

Mostly because I don’t think there has ever been an NHL team in history that has named a captain and then stripped it half way into a season.

Don’t get me wrong though… I think they choose the wrong captain and it should have been Kreider.

I think it should have been Mika. Hes the one player who through the thick of it all just keeps going. For me I have a hard time forgetting Kreider’s mental fragility of the past.

Man has he earned no goodwill with you at all yet? He’s only averaging 1.3 points per game in 200+ games here
- picklerick

Goodwill???

No, none at all. When you are the 2nd highest paid player in the league you dont get a pass. 1.3 points per game means nothing in the playoffs, in which he was invisible. Now that the Rangers are playing like garbage he is still invisible.

At 11.6 mill per, you should be front and center, where is he???

Passenger. Its a damn shame.

To be quite frank, if were looking pretty much the same come trade deadline. Id ask Panarin if he would be interested in getting traded. #1 LAF needs to be given an opportunity to be front and center. #2 Othmann needs to be given a spot in the lineup to shine. I think Othmann has enough of that Type A personality to grab a spot by the balls and run with it.

Panarin absolutely killed it his first 2.5 half years in NY. He’s just slowing down now as we knew that contract wouldn’t look good in the back half. Still the best FA signing they had.

90% of the rangers issues are resolved if kakko/Laf looked the part. Hate to hear a dead horse but it’s true. The devils are wheee they are bc nico and Hughes are both top 20 players in the league

I would almost guarantee I was saying it before u but I don’t care enough to check. U said it first, u win.

For sure.
I can't even remember how many times I typed in a response that said MANY of us were saying Kreider should be on the 3rd line ever since the day Laffy was drafted. Panarin followed by what expected the 1OA to become, followed by Kreider.
I guess that's how much anyone else's ideas register.
Anyway, yeah you win, let's move on.

If the rangers knew they were getting Laf they never resign kreider. Kreider is fine on the 3rd line.

I'd liken it more to rounding a long bend than turning a corner! lol
That STL game was a comedy of errors from both teams.

Wow you definitely have your head in the sand!!

No I didnt think he would be slowing down now, I was thinking the last year or 2 of the deal!! So he killed it for 2.5 years of a 7 year, cap killing deal with zero cups and he is still the Rangers best FA signing ever. You are INSANE!!!

Laf and KK are not 90 percent of the problem!!! Holy poop!! What have you been watching??? Trouba has been hurt and not playing well. The defense is porous, Igor is human and our bottom 6 is invisible on most nights!!!

I still think there is time to turn this around, if the Rangers dont go on a long run here its time for a coaching change. I dont believe these players have just lost their ability in a 6 month time span. Its juts the voice in the locker room.

Yes, you (as well as most of the rest of us) are correct that GG is likely gone if we don't get into a serious hot streak. And I agree with your statement that we should not be ok with Bread declining already. But, I refuse to take a sample of 24 points in 27 games as a sign that this is the case. Even your statement that he was "invisible" in the playoffs is inflammatory. He had 16 points in 20 games! Not HoF level, I'll admit. But, I'd bet that just about any player that has ever experienced the NHL playoffs would consider that a good performance.
Perhaps your standards are out of line.

The issues are across the board. You can point to almost every aspect of the team and find a problem right now, that includes the production from the Kids, despite the caveats there. More going wrong than going right. The question now is if they build off Monday’s win and use what worked there moving forward or do they go back to the bad habits or poor line placement.

When I say slowing down it means he is not worth $11.6m as he once was. He is probably more of a $9m player at this point based on his 5v5 numbers. His advanced stats are slowly on the decline. The first 2.5 years of his deal he was the best FA the rangers ever had. Jagr and Gabroik are probably close 2nd/3rd. If signing Panarin was the right route to go is a different story since it became a retool and not a rebuild. They could have signed McDavid if he was available at that time and they were not wining a cup the first 3 years during this rebuild

Igor has regressed and the defense is not nearly as good as last year. The reason why I mention Laf and Kakko shouldering a lot of blame is bc the org put this pressure on them. They did not replace copp, vatrano or motte. They expected laf/kakko to become point per game players or close to it. It just has not translated bc of development

Tony for 11.6 mil he better be up front and center and he hasnt. Ive watched almost 95 percent of the games this year and he has played like paper. He comes into the zone and button hooks, teams have adjusted and he just turns the puck over. He has been giving the puck away more and more on a regular basis and it is pretty baffling.

Please dont talk to me about his point totals, he is on the PP for 2 minutes at a time and most of his points have been secondary PP assists!! Im not impressed for a player making 11.6 mil. He hasnt taken controlled of a game in weeks. That includes going back to last years playoffs where his biggest goal was the OT goal against Pitts. Yes it was a big goal but where was he the rest of the Playoffs??

I dont think he is decline, I think its more of a confidence/personnel assignment thing. GG kept putting the PP1 line out there even though they didnt score since Halloween (Just Exaggerating) but WTF, change it up a little!! You arent scoring so do something a little different!!

We arent winning anything unless Igor and Panarin start to play better and we dont really have a back up now, for all of you who were clamoring to get rid of AG for a bunch of water bottles, wouldnt it be nice to have him now??? The team looks like it is sleep walking and needs to be shaken up. GG is a players coach and needs to get the teams attention again and get them to refocus. Whether its extreme as sitting Panarin for a game or something small as just letting the PP2 unit go out there.

We need to wake this team up.

Check Panarins 5v5 numbers. They are slowly declining. It does not mean hes not an elite player. They just signed him when they were not ready to win. He can still be productive, but the days of him being worth that cap hit are over.
