I thought Holmstrom had a pretty solid game, for a rookie. Nothing spectacular but he was noticeable to me

Yup, he was one of the bottom 6 I was referring to. Really thought he had his first NHL goal last night. Goofy looking (frank)er came so close.

I agree Holmstrom has gotten better and better every game. Thats said, it's not good when he's the best player on the ice and as you said the rest of the team was stunk. They were sloppy, gave up old man rushes and need to start playing a more defense oriented game. If you score 4 goals in a game you should win that game. There's no excuse. sOrOkin or Varly can't bail this team out nightly. Its not a recipe for success.

Quite right.

I’m cautiously optimistic about Friday. Me thinks this loss pissed the boys off, and that they’ll wanna prove a point against the Devils.

But that might just be absurd optimism on my part.

Funny I said the same thing about Friday's game to my son last night. They seem to take the teams they are supposed to beat a bit softer than the league leading teams.
The inconsistency is a problem. You need to play Islanders Hockey game in game out no matter your competition. I think they will be ready Friday night, If not then I don't know what's going on, but somethings not right.

Ummmm, I'm not going to back read all of this to understand the passion, but I think in a vacuum we were discussing that he has not been good this year (or last) and is very tradeable in that he has some value and could maybe bring an upgrade back.

The whole team stunk most of last year and certainly last night. There were multiple 'sources' some good, some not, who claimed the Isles were trying to trade Beau and didn't want to take on salary. Ultimately they couldn't find a suitor.
