There certainly are a lot of conclusions drawn from a pretty even game decided by a bone head play in an OT that we lose every time anyway.
- Canada Cup

You're smarter than that, CC. The conclusion on the backbone of this team was not drawn only on last night's game. Just one more in a long string of examples.

You say decided in OT, but IMO it was decided with 3 chintzy penalties against the Leafs in the first 7 minutes of the third period. That together with the non-calls on much more flagrant violations created the OT possibility for Tampa. Leafs were full value for the lead starting the third, non calls on Cirelli and a bullpoop 2 minute minor for Kucherov bludgeoning Holl's face into the boards were certainly factors.

Careful, pointing out things that actually happened, and has (frank)ing video of it, will make you a conspiracy theorist.

Not necessarily.

Cut out the ticky tacky poop and save your penalties for when you need to send a message. It's actually a part of team discipline. But it doesn't really matter - we don't have the players to play that way, anyway.

Dive, hold, interfere, and straight up do anything they want and the refs will blatantly ignore it?
- GreatGigInTheSky

Can’t let guys run your players and goalie. Take somebodies teeth out in reg season. Keep doing it until teams realize it’ll cost you a set of teeth to run the goalie or stars!

Watch the link posted and tell me it isn't dirtier than the check for which Kadri was suspended for an entire playoff series? Plus a five minute PP for the Bruins. Holl doesn't even have the (frank)en puck. Is that 2 minutes like the 2 minute penalty to Marner to start the period?

There’s a spot on the roster with Jarnrok on IR. Whether he plays or not he gets a big boy salary for a while and gets to practice with them. Maybe he gets in instead of Malgin or Wayne

Yes, I have in fact. And I know that it is possible to prioritize reducing the amount of penalties a team takes.

e-sports?

And so the stick infractions, hooks, interference: all the things that players do to prevent goals, scoring opportunities, and sometimes get away with it, they're just going to magically stop doing that, so they can focus on dirty plays: face rubs, hits from behind, cross-checks, elbows, high hits, etc.?

And that's your recipe for a Stanley Cup?

Bay Street Bullies. Managment is definitely going that way after recently watching the Salming tape from the mid 70's playoffs

Nah - we don't need that crap, but I promise not to hold it against Matthew Knies that he is a 6'3" 210lb. 20 yr old LW that likes to score and will not hesitate to play physical.

Ok I guess I do need to explain it.

We take enough bad penalties already. Here's a tip - you know the douchy poop that Cirelli, Kucherov, Marchand, Perry do?

You do the same poop.

Hey! That is unkind.

You walked yourself right into this one.
Take a look at the teams that actually *win* Stanley Cups. It's not about penalties. All of those teams, a hell of a lot douchier , grittier, and capable of playing when the game gets taken into the alley than our Leafs.

And because of that the refs can't call everything. Obviously, they don't cuz we watch them not call all the infractions. Refs are always trying to keep it balanced/even.

I have never seen a game where, for example, Boston got called for 14 penalties and the Leafs 0. The game is just not called that way even if Boston had 14 infractions and the Leafs had 0. It would end up Boston 4 and Leafs 2 or some BS arbitrary "balanced" calls.

Difference for the Leafs, and I agree with you BTW, every player is a soft player and avoid penalties so almost every infraction gets called, sometimes it's even random BS calls. So much easier to call a penalty on a team that plays a clean game they're easy to spot.

Insert 3 or 4 chippy players, known around the league as such, and Leafs are tougher and refs start to make 4 or 5 judgement calls a night but there might be 20 possible penalties to call....see Bruins, Tampa, Calgary.........

Refs will NOT call all infractions, they just won't.
