Agree, there should have been no Leaf penalty on that play. As I mentioned, it didn't bother me as much as Kucherov hitting Holl in the numbers (he didn't even have the puck) and his face bouncing off the glass. Leafs have received playoff majors and suspensions for lesser hits (twice) Kucherov should have got 5 and a game for sure. Cirelli running over Murray on his own without a call was also BS.
- winsix

Kucherov was an animal with the dives last night. Actually impressive the amount he was flopping all over the ice.

And yeah, if the refs did their job, he wouldn't have been able to dive all over the ice and make them look even more stupid.

Here’s a recap of last night’s game ( I took notes)

First period - Marner Tavares Robertson 🔥
Robertson big hit on Hagel
Shots 22-12 🍁
Weak call on Simmonds- Marner SH goal
Fluky bounce (34 hit from behind)🙄 1-1
TB push back at end of 2nd
Goal challenge- offside
Tavares runs Cirelli into Murray
Next shift -88 from 34 and 58👍
Kucherov hits Holl into boards
Perry alone in front of net 2-2
Liljegren penalty on Kucherov - Colton 3-2
Kerfoot penalty
Marner goal
Tavares no goal = Leafy
Didn’t see OT - CBC switched to Canucks😔

TB dove a lot
Perry would’ve been nice 3 years ago

I respect your stance to sit and wait. There's no rush for Dubas to do anything at the moment.

The only two reasons I would make another deal after the Timmins one is if some injuries outside of Muzzin are longer than originally thought OR the price was too good to pass up now in comparison to the deadline price hike.

- Aaron_85

From the previous thread - hitting stats do not equate to toughness. When things get ugly, as they always eventually do, this team is still unable to match up.

Brodie is skating and taking drills but still by himself. He’s a week or two. Putting him back in the mix gives them lots of options and takes one bottom guy out.

I agree Dubas needs to keep checking in on prices. I’m sure he is

From last blog-

Tampa got called for one embellishment (which the Leafs were still inexplicably given a penalty), and they should've been assessed at least 5. It was actually embarrassing.

- GreatGigInTheSky

There were no embellishment calls. The one you’re probably thinking of was a holding the sticking/hooking call that led to the 4-on-4.

As we move to the closer to the trade deadline, there will indeed be more alternatives, there will also be more buyers based on playoff positioning and injuries. Schenn is a minor move, with the Leaf injury situation, there should be one or two TDL moves available that are impactful on the cap. The move to get a player like Schenn is certainly not impactful on the cap. He makes less than $1M.
- winsix

So he’s a Benn replacement? When Brodie is back

Love to see a first round rematch with Tampa this year. Really fun matchup with these two teams. 😍

Really? I was watching at the pub but I thought I heard them say embellishment.

It was a holding the stick call, they didn't call the flop. It was a bullpoop call to be clear. Tampa clearly watching the world cup.

If Brodie is two weeks away, that almost gets you to the XMass break, so if that’s the case he stays out till after XMass.

Same old same old with Leafs. They simply do not have the toughness to win hard fought games! Even though I think they are arguably the best team in the league, they can’t win because teams know how to beat them in playoffs! And you can’t just add a guy like Simmonds and say ok we have toughness now…….it has to be throughout the lineup…..guys that can play hockey and have attitude! Doesn’t exist on the Leafs and until Dubas is gone nothing will change.

You don't let guys take liberties with your goalkeeper, for one. But if I have to explain it to you,....

Ok I guess I do need to explain it.

We take enough bad penalties already. Here's a tip - you know the douchy poop that Cirelli, Kucherov, Marchand, Perry do?

You do the same poop.

Dive, hold, interfere, and straight up do anything they want and the refs will blatantly ignore it?

Can't. Leafs apparently get penalties for breathing near guys in the playoffs and you expect them to get away with the same garbage that gets done to them?

Leafs are the least penalized team in the damn league but come playoffs, they're the most penalized.

Make it make sense.

Not necessarily.

Cut out the ticky tacky poop and save your penalties for when you need to send a message. It's actually a part of team discipline. But it doesn't really matter - we don't have the players to play that way, anyway.

There certainly are a lot of conclusions drawn from a pretty even game decided by a bone head play in an OT that we lose every time anyway.

Yes, I have in fact. And I know that it is possible to prioritize reducing the amount of penalties a team takes.
