Fashing having a good game here - Upstate_isles
He played very good. He set up a few guys with really good opportunities. I would not mind him sticking around...
I thought Holmstrom played well too.. he seems to be getting a little better each game.
Bailey still stinks.

Great game.. It was a game they had to win and they did. Not sure what the Zeeker fight was all about but they seemed to not like each other a lot. It's not like Casey likes to fight either.. . |

Fasching is one of those guys that will have a few decent games and disappear soon after imo. Obviously doesn’t have the skill set. His skating is pretty awful. But if he can fill in when needed great. He’s purely a depth guy imo which is fine. We need it right now. I’m not saying Holmstrom is some star in waiting but he at least has the skill set to MAYBE play at this level consistently. He had a few good looks the past few games. Actually almost scored last night. |

Connected to the last game when cizikas ran into and concussed their goalie Stalock. |

Last time they played, Cizikas was the player that ran their goalie and was ejected. Stalock. He's still in Concussion protocol. |

He is exactly what they needed him to be in that role so for now he's earned that spot till cal returns. Holmestrom has been good and fits in well for now but will obviously be sent down when Palmieri returns. Tough stretch of games coming up but I will say this:
Osles are flying like the 3rd vs preds |

My guess is you're probably right, but that is 3 or 4 games now that i have seen him this year and he seems to be flying. He set up Martin and Romanov for perfect chances between the dot in the first period. .. I know it's Chicago but he certainly looks better than Bailey who looked like it was his first NHL game last night.

Certainly not bashing the guy but he’s an ahl overager. If he can give us depth when needed then it’s a home run. I think if he’s in the lineup still against a team like the devils or Avs he’ll be a bit exposed due to his skating. For the time being if he holds his own till we get some guys back then that’s all we could ask for. |

POV trade Varlamov. The way he’s playing he is a big asset who they can afford to lose.
Maybe Vancouver could use him.
I understand it’s a risk if Sorokin gets hurt but I’m ok with taking that risk as a fan. Now maybe they are trying to trade him and not getting the value they are looking for but I hope if they can get some speed or offense for him they make the move.

I don’t think Vancouver is looking for a way to be more competitive right now. I also doubt Lameriello trades Varlamov. Whether or not Sorokin gets injured doesn’t really matter imo. We’re a team that’s dependent on elite level goaltending right now. Especially with how tight the division is. Even factoring in varlys role as a backup we need someone good in there whenever they have to play. |

Looking at the standings I feel good they have a chance on making the playoffs. Even if Pitt or the rags take the third spot imo they will be competing with the redwings and Florida for the last spot. I would rather see more offense than a solid back up goalie. |

You'd still have to replace him with a competent goaltender who's going to cost a few million bucks. Not to mention you're not getting a very big haul for him, so trading him isn't going to land anyone who would help the offense in any significant way. Trading him would be a mistake and I'd agree with Cpt that there's virtually no way Lamoriello is even considering the idea. |

IF(it’s a big IF imo) he does anything it will more then likely be without parting ways with Varlamov. Not really sure what we could give up other then Raty and our first to facilitate a trade for some more offense. I think we could use some help now up front. Not really breaking news. With that said I’m not really sure how willing I am to give up this years first. I don’t think it’s a clear cut decision at least for me it’s not. |

You give up this year's 1st if it's for a horvat or meier and they sign an extention as part of the deal |

Yeah I would do that. Kind of a no brainer but do we have the additional assets to add what it will actually take to make that trade happen? Have to figure it would be raty. |
