Jury is still out but it's getting harder to ignore. I still believe this team was not the right place to develop these guys.
All of the scouts can't be wrong on two consecutive years regarding a 2OA and 1OA. One I could get. Not two. - JRR1285
Neither are electric players at all. No team game plans for them. They create nothing 1:1. The most mediocre looking top 2 picks |

The thing is, it was consensus on the 2 of them. Its not like we reached or went off the board. Could our luck really be this bad?
I said it a few weeks ago, I think theres a serious issue deeper in the organization with the trainers and coaches. I think theyre not prepping them properly, theyre not stretching them properly, conditioning isnt what it needs to be. Its just really damn weird that year after year we talk about the same things no matter who is coaching this team. - aecliptic
Entirely possible. I also think both players needed at least a year in Hartford. The pandemic undoubtedly set them both back. But there are plenty of young players who went through the same types of seasons and are scoring goals and doing all the hockey. |

Neither are play drivers. Need your top two picks to be that way. If they were who we thought they would be this team would be way different |

Kirby Dach has 17 points in 23 games for MTL, hes nearing season highs and were not even 1/3 of the way into the season.
Im telling you, its this team. Theres something seriously wrong and it goes deeper than just the players. |

I saw an article mention that Lafreniere didn't play a competitive hockey game for 10 months and got thrown straight into the NHL. He 100% should have gone to the world juniors instead and maybe Hartford. |

The game tomorrow doesn’t matter. The players, coaching staff and management, as currently assembled, can’t get it done. Something, or several things, need to change |

As mentioned the only thing they can even try is a coaching change. Maybe Drury jumps behind the bench again. |

There are plenty of players in the league that dont have blazing speed and are very productive. But they make smart plays, clever plays, easy plays, fundamental plays, hockey 101 plays. I have such a hard time accepting that both Kakko and LAF are devoid of that. |

A) (frank) no I don’t want the least charismatic person in hockey anywhere near our bench
B) there are deals to be made

I agree. What the (frank) happened?
These are two players if traded away will haunt the organization for 10 years. |

It’s been YEARS for either of them since they were THE GUY on their teams. Gotta wonder what it’s going to take to get that out of them again. Kakko at least looks like he could be a serviceable role player like a Fast but with a lot more skill. He looks pretty confident and comfortable out there to me, just not in the way we had hoped. Laf looks like he’s questioning whether he’s ever been any good at hockey. |

With LAF hes got this hockey IQ where its like wow that was a great play or maybe he was just lucky and guessing..? Im beginning to think that hes doing a lot of guessing, and really isnt confident in anything hes doing. Which, is an organizational problem, they need to do everything they can to make this kid believe he can be the best player in the league. If they cant, they need to find someone that can.
I never thought Kakko was gonna be a star, I always saw him as the kind of player that gets 50 points, 60 in a good year as a top 6 player. |
