With LAF hes got this hockey IQ where its like wow that was a great play or maybe he was just lucky and guessing..? Im beginning to think that hes doing a lot of guessing, and really isnt confident in anything hes doing. Which, is an organizational problem, they need to do everything they can to make this kid believe he can be the best player in the league. If they cant, they need to find someone that can.
I never thought Kakko was gonna be a star, I always saw him as the kind of player that gets 50 points, 60 in a good year as a top 6 player. - aecliptic
I still think Kakko will be that. It’s not what you expect from a #2 pick but he’s the type of player winning teams need. I can live with that outcome.
I’m not mad at Laf at all for his performance. I feel terrible for him. I can only imagine what he’s going through. Especially if he’s active online and getting Trolled all day. |

I think the last couple weeks I’ve come to the realization Lafs problom and, Kakko to a certain extent, is skating. They are just not very fast at all. The league is faster than ever and they can’t keep up. It’s ultimately a huge issue in their development and I think it prevents them from being stars. We were gifted these two diamonds who may end up being quartzes. Unbelievable and very irritating |

The PP needs a shakeup. Never in a million years would I have thought the PP would struggle as badly as it has. It’s become ridiculously predictable. Even the Fox magic is easy defend now. I would try Laf on it instead of Trocheck just to see if it sparks him
Last season it seemed like they scored a PP goal every game |

Surprised you just noticed that now. Their skating is a big problem. It doesn’t allow them to create 1:1 or take over any game. I can’t name one game in each of their careers where I thought they lived up to the hype of their pick. What would this team look like if Laf looked like Hughes and kakko svenhcikov? Not saying they have the same game but just producing like those two

I always noticed it but I never really thought it was something they couldn’t overcome.

I was impressed with Kravtsov tonight. Not just because he scored but was noticeably most shifts |

The PP was a one trick pony, teams figured it out and start defending it. We won so many games off the back of that PP, its a big reason why were struggling to win games.
I think Panarin needs to come off PP1 and should have a PP of his own where hes the lead guy.
PP1: LAF, Kreider, Zib, Kakko, Fox
PP2: Kravtsov, Panarin, Chytil, Trochek, Schneider
This is what I would try for the PP.

It sucks but realistically, how many games is he going to play? I think you guys are better off.
Just like the Yankees would be better off not paying a 31 year old $37 million. Guarantee he will never have another season like he had this year. He bet on himself and he won, but the team that signs him is going to lose. |

Pretty good thread. I have always liked Lafreniere and maybe he is just not being given enough space to find his NHL game. If The Rangers were not feeling so much pressure around being a playoff contender maybe the judgments would not be as harsh. |

Rangers find ways to lose games. They have some talented players just nothing is really working. Their two young draft picks look as mediocre as can be. They have two reliable defenseman in fox and Lindgren. Fox is being over used. And their salary cap is a mess. Pretty bad situation if it doesn’t turn around |

i would love to see this. balances the L/R shooters a lot more. PP1 is basically all righties and PP2 is reversed - prob a big reason trouba is out there on PP2 which needs to end ASAP |

Although the teams is playing 500 hockey and things look bleak, the Rangers arent in a bad position. Igor is looking human, maybe a combination of fatigue and the poor play in front of him. Panarin is a shell of himself, if not for a few secondary assists his scoring would be garbage. Of course there is the kids.
We need to be still patient. Things take time. The Rangers dont have the cap space nor the personnel to make a big splash in the trade market. No need to over panic. Stay the course. |

You’re probably right regarding the players but if Gallant cant find the right line combinations he needs to go

Info on #NYR thought process:
- Feeling, for now, is that Hájek has won the 3LD job. And if Jones is going to be a scratch, they’d rather him play in AHL
- Harpur’s $750K AAV is better for cap accrual than Jones’ $925K
- Brodzinski is temporary depth move. One FWD is banged up |

Unsure I could have had a worse 24 hours as a fan. Wake up this am to find out Jacob deGrom signed a 5-year, $185 mil deal with Texas. The Rangers blew another late-game lead and lost in overtime. Team US lost 3-1 in the World Cup to the Netherlands and the Knicks got waxed in the third quarter at home and were blown out by Dallas. Fun times. |

USA game was very frustrating. Reminded me a lot of a Rangers/Islanders game. Rangers the more skilled team, but Islanders clog lanes and capitalize on our mistakes. Team USA had the ball for 75% of the game but just couldn’t get clean opportunities. |
