I don't understand why this has been so crippling in BC? we get more than 27 CM overnight all the time in Barrie (an hour north of Toronto) and it's not the chaos and insanity I keep seeing on twitter etc.

Is it really that nuts or is this just media sensationalizing it as usual?

Is there not good prior planning to a snow fall out there? Just seems so weird to me that a Canadian city would be so ill prepared for snow.

2.4m eggs?

I do get that 27 cm of snow on a logging road would be uber problematic for sure though.

He’s a fish hatchery worker I think. I think the problem in bc are the steep hills. That and wet snow are a bad combination.

Ah....and perhaps a bit of the same issue as Toronto faces when it snows - people with summer rims and tires and people that believe "all season" tires mean they are also rated for snow. Newsflash - they are not.

Hills and more trees

No plowing, hwy was ice
We normally get very little snow

70-90 km wind added to issues with trees

Ah thanks - I'm surprised they didn't brine in advance of the snow and then sand....they have been doing the brine thing here for a few years and I have noticed it really does help keep the roads from becoming a skating rink.

Maybe that’s what’s wrong with the leafs. They’re still using their winter blades in April when all the other teams have already switched over.

Seems Leafs are not wearing the Borje patch for the rest of the season :-( and are wearing the retro reverse jerseys tonight for the final time.

This is from Brandon Marsh (who manages MLSE game worn sales etc.).

Hey all.... I'm sure quite a few of you know about our current auction, but here is a heads up for those that didn't know, as well as some more details to share with those interested!
Our Reverse Retro Auction was due to take place in December, but things quickly changed with the recent passing of Borje Salming and the addition of his commemorative patch added to the RR sweater. All net proceeds from the auction will be donated to ALS Action Canada.
A few other points to answer some questions I've received... Tonight will be the 2nd & final time the Maple Leafs will wear their RR sweater. Set 1 of 2 was worn on November 19th vs the Buffalo Sabres, which will be gifted to the players. Tonight will be Set 2 of 2, but of course includes Borje's patch. All 29 Game Ready Sweaters are included in the auction, 20 of which will be worn tonight, leaving 9 issued. Tonight will also be the final time the Maple Leafs wear Borje's patch, after wearing them on the road the past three games. There is no information as of yet for that specific set of road sweaters.
Hope this helps clear some things up for everyone, let me know if I missed anything! Go Leafs Go

Well that’s poopty. Only wear a special jersey twice, and not wear the Börje patch all year?

Now we have two very dependable goalies. That's unusual from the Leafy side of things.

Sorry, three counting Kallegren

Might be trading from a point of strength here soon.

Let's follow this up a bit. Spit ballin"of course, say we did trade one of these goalies. What would we expect to get in return?

Doubt a prospect would be overwhelming.

And a top winger for the JT line will cost more money than we have to spend.

You mean trading a goaltender? I don't see that happening at all, imo. I think it's goaltending by committee for the foreseeable future.

Now I'm not saying the Leafs medical staff isn't good. They are probably great.

But how can you tell if they're the best in the league?

Which advanced stats are we looking at here? Expected games missed average?

While I don't think Dubas has this in his mind at all considering the health of his goalies and the performance being small samples so far I do have fun with trades.

If there's a desperate GM then something like a good prospect could be had but otherwise it is likely no better than a 2nd round pick. Even that seems unlikely.

The Kawhi Leonard had his best health-wise season in Toronto stats.

We have different expectations for a guy who’s something like 8-10 among Leaf defencemen and who hasn’t really messed up in any major ways, doesn’t completely panic and mostly does a decent job of moving the puck up the ice. Good for 14:37 in ice time. We could be doing much, much worse.
- Canada Cup

I obviously love the way the team is playing, and Hollowell's contribution to that has been good when he's not on the ice - because otherwise he's been terrible with an xGF of 30%. We can ignore the numbers, but he flubs the puck often, is rarely in position, and doesn't win battles or even skate noticeably well.

Look, I accept that he's far down on the depth charts and he's played only 4 games, but just being honest here - if there was anyone else in the organization who had NHL experience, I'd take them over Hollowell. Maybe Timmins isn't ready and maybe he'd be worse - but I'd roll the dice on that based on the fact that Timmins has played 20 minute games with the Avs and has top-4 potential still.
