LA has mentioned it, so i was wondering if the Blackhawks are able to get a 1st for Kane and Toews in this draft, let's throw in a 2nd round pick as well, would you try to package those deals to trade up in the top 15 or would you sit on those picks because there is so much talent in this draft? - BetweenTheDots
Sit, if as loaded as they say, you need as many good players as you can get |

All I know is the folks saying a kana trade costs similar to the Giropux trade are delusional and IF Davidson takes "only" a Giroux return, he should lose his job.
This isn'y Giroux, or the 'cat you are renting.
He is a real deal and he gives you a really good line with his addition, no matter which team it is.
Sure. The team is loaning and not keeping him. (Does that mean he goes to a Vancouver afterward???? (I know the Vancouver Cap space, but he makes some team very different next season.)
I think he is stating.
The Toews return for a first this season is difficult to swallow after the 5.5 Mil of Cap he eats. and I just thnk there are a few centres equal in a Cup challenger's w/o THAT much salary, but Jonathan's not thought of as a slacker either, so who knows, but I bet the Hawks would have to be in a position where more than one team wants them to eat half of his Cap and then maybe they get that late first rounder now.
I am pretty sure as much as they would like to have carload of picks to move up and down the board, teams will want to pay in 2024 I a thinking...

I believe that was actually a Mike Smith draft. Pully was lurking around somewhere though. - HawkintheD
He was listed as the GM that year.
edit: Smith was named to a hockey ops position 12/1999 and then named gm in Aug/sept of 2000. So yes he had a say in the picks that year since that was also when the Hawks went to the constant movement concept of Alpo Suhonen.
Ironically, I think that's referred to a strong forecheck, cycling and having players with a constant motor nowadays |

Hard to believe what a disaster Stan was
HJ plays 40 minutes a game incl PP & PK
Henri Jokiharju was traded to the Buffalo Sabres by the Chicago Blackhawks for forward Alexander Nylander on Tuesday. Jokiharju was a first-round pick (No. 29) by the Blackhawks at the 2017 NHL Draft and split last season between Chicago and Rockford of the American Hockey League. |

And Keith at 24 minutes a game was thought to be incredible.
(Note: HJ is averaging just over 19 minutes a game and has 3 points for the season playing for a team almost as bad as the Hawks. Buffalo did much better on that trade, but lets not confuse HJ with being a legit 1st line defender (IMHO) |

They should be, they have been rebuilding for the entirety of the 21st century.

Blackwell has to be the most useless plug on this team, makes Entwhistle look like a top 6 forward. |

Too many useless plugs when Khaira and Entwhistle are both on the second PP unit. Awful team!! |

If I am the GM on any team I am not trading out of the top 11, and you have to think the teams finishing
I don't think a team who finishes at 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, (in the playoffs) even if it is a team like Calgary , Florida, St. Louis, or Rangers (who also have Dallas' first) teams who we all might have thought were going to finish higher.
So, they all may be looking for scoring upgrades via trades, but I'm not so sure a pick from one those teams PLUS the TB (Hagel trade) will be attractive enough to a 11-16 team (even after a lottery loss) unless their prospect pool is completely in the same disarray as the Blackhawks.
As much as it is nice to be a Hawk fan and wish they could repeat the 2023 draft extravaganza, but it seems like they are better off holding on to the picks in that top 40.
My newest bug up the backside is this talk about the defense position is weak in the 2023 because basically the strength of the forward position.
There is still lots of good prospects teams other than the hawks will start harvesting a bitter in the bottom of the first and the entire second and third.

The trade that brought Bryan McCabe to Chicago I think - ikeane
I am not so sure the NHL NOW would ever cater to the Sedin sisters the way they did.
Burke began by complementing his existing third overall pick by trading defenseman Bryan McCabe and Vancouver's 1st-round pick in the 2000 Draft (used to select Pavel Vorobiev) to the Chicago Blackhawks for the fourth overall pick. Then he obtained the first overall pick from Tampa Bay, flipping Chicago's fourth overall pick — which the Lightning subsequently traded to the Rangers, who used it to draft Pavel Brendl — and two third-round selections. Vancouver and Atlanta then worked out a deal whereby Atlanta, who held the second overall selection, promised to select Patrik Stefan with the first overall pick, leaving both Sedins available to Vancouver at 2nd and 3rd.[3]

And really the best plan. ill put up with a season of plugs to land Bedard. |

At the very least it was somewhat exciting game with our plugs never giving up .And they did not mess up and get any old 1 point. It will be heart stopping when they do the draw this spring. I am trying to stay optimistic but spinning the old tankathon does not bring any peace . |

What makes it worst despite the fact, Yokes has been the least injured and most games played of that stable of defenseman who were the Hawks future crop of under sized puck handlers, the Blackhawks traded DOWN and out of a slot that Dallas used to secure their current goalie of the future Jake Oettinger.
I know from someone that they heavily scouted Ryan Poeling who the Habs picked before the Dallas goalie pick, but my question was more along the lines of who the staff thought our goalie of the future was at that point, or was it simply they were frightened by the developmental time, and high failure rates of first round goalie selections?
And this draft was in the UC in Chicago, and unlike many of the past host GMs who went out of their way to make a splash in front of the home town fans, they trade OUT of the spot the fans are anticipating them to select in, jeez!~

Just a few random thoughts....
During the 8 game winless streak, excluding the goal awarded to Montreal for winning the shootout, our beloved have given up 39 goals - 5 per game. Ouch. And the schedule and quality of opponents in the next couple of weeks aren't getting easier. Mrazek and Soderblom will be needing some well earned R & R soon to shake off the battle fatigue.
I know +/- numbers aren't the best indication of quality of play, but McCabe and Murphy lead the defensemen in that category with 4 and -1 respectively.
Domi is 2nd on the team in scoring with 16 points - 7G and 9A - and has won 56% of his faceoffs. What's the ceiling for a return at the TDL? 2nd round pick? |

I agree. They need a couple outstanding players, and the top of the draft is the best place to get them. |

I figured there was a number, so the drop is after the 11th pick in your opinion, thanks Wiz

What did we get for Janmark a couple year's ago? Domi falls into the category of "somebody has to play" and when you play you get stats. What would his stats look like on a good team?
