Maybe it was before your time but this market happily accepted a rebuild when Linden, Maclean, Gelinas, Brown etc were sent packing all around the same time. The young players competed hard and the fans gave them enough grace to develop.

Maybe it was before your time but this market happily accepted a rebuild when Linden, Maclean, Gelinas, Brown etc were sent packing all around the same time. The young players competed hard and the fans gave them enough grace to develop.

The issue is they don't understand the market, and haven't for awhile.

Sure the casual fan drives up your average ticket price, viewship etc. However, your hardcore fan provides a pretty decent floor. What really drives everything is success, which we haven't really achieved in a decade.

A bottom dwelling team is exciting for different reasons. An attempt to be mediocre or better is just frustrating for everyone.
