I think that kind of thinking is completely misguided. Do you honestly think there hasn’t been any optimism in Edmonton over the past eight years? Of course there has been. Fans have two of the best players in the world, they also just went to the third round of the playoffs and have produced how many 100 point seasons in the past few seasons.

I would gladly take that over the crap we’ve been watching for the past eight years. Oilers fans wanna win the Cup, I get it, Canucks fans just wanna stop losing….those two things are completely different from each other.

I don't think you hear/see to much complaining from the Habs, Wings, Ducks fans complaining about a rebuilding process.👍

Oh I get your point - and the Canucks could do the exact same thing but Canucks fans/media would find a way to have the entire new crop traded, run out of town, or grass is greener hated upon within a few years - it's what they do!! Can't help themselves.
- Brooks_Light

I think the majority of fans would welcome a rebuild, as with life though the loud minority get all the press.

That's all we know.
- VanHockeyGuy

Maybe with the new diverse leadership group, the Canucks can grow past that. It's gonna take time just like everything else in the world. Growth isn't instant.

You are probably dead by then but at least I might get to see a cup.

It's only 2.5 more years as well. Not 4 like Bjorkstrand.

Van has backed themselves into a corner with trades though. Hard time seeing any GM giving them any sort of value though. You might gain some cap space by getting bent over but that doesn't change the desperation that the Canucks still have.

I'd honestly just play the games and when someone comes with some value for a player than take it.

Rutherford said they wouldn't make a trade just to make a trade. He should probably stick to that until the deadline honestly.

So far JR is all talk, no action. I get it GM's are throwing him boat anchors. However he's had a year to evaluate this team and make corrections

Sure, they'd welcome it and enjoy the excitement for awhile. And then in 5 years when the shine wears off all the new kids - it would be "fawk this kid and fawk that idiot, fawk the coach, (frank) the systems, nothing is working, this kids a bust, management are scumbags, trade everyone, we didn't rebuild properly, I hate fawking sandwiches, screw the weather, floods, injuries, top 9"

rinse, repeat.

His first mistake was most likely not getting rid of Miller. That seemed to have given the edge to other GM's right there. Boeser contract was next.

Getting bent over just seems to be a thing about Canucks Gm's.

They should talk to Edmonton and Buffalo fans about "optimism" over lots of draft picks and young players.
- manvanfan

The problem is that they held on to them all. At some point when you have a young core, you need to use those prospects and picks to give them the team to compete. Just waiting for young players to develop and do that is beyond stupid.

I would wager that FA saw the run we had with BB and told them not to sell. Probably forced a Miller contract because BB spoke so highly of him and fans loved him last year. Everything leading up to now sounds like ownership meddling, and now that we are showing how bad of a team he is, he is hopefully coming around to selling pieces off.

We are actually in a rinse and repeat cycle now, it’s been completely fruitless. I can’t honestly believe you’d want to just continue down the same losing path and change nothing.

Button and some guy from hockey writers are the latest 2 to come out and the hockey writers guy has him at 21 in his.

Ritchie hasn't had a very good month. Below a ppg in the OHL. 8th best PPG among u18 skaters in the OHL now.

Thanks FA, you delayed the rebuild by a year and are now getting cents on the dollar

Still surrounding them with the right players and keeping the right players is a very hard thing to accomplish. It's clearly not an exact science.

Yup, essentially we're looking at a repeat of last season. Sadly, making the playoff's and going out in consecutive games would be considered a win for this group. The bar is set so low.

Hahaha that's an interesting jump to conclusions. I didn't mention anything about what I wanted. My posts were completely observational.

He plays on a terrible team in Oshawa, so of course he will have some ups and downs.
Also, basing a player off of 1 month of hockey, is how you end up with Danila Klimovich.

through 26 games — and after last night — #Canucks are scoring half a goal more & allowing more than a full goal per game more than they did last season

Shocking what having your goalie make a save can do for the team.

True, but Edm and Buf both pretty much relied on UFA's to fill the void over trades.
