Bruins have Pastrnak and Vegas have Eichel as their only players in top 50 of scoring, Canucks have Pouty, Bo and JTM, in the top 50, therefore Canucks better than Boston and Vegas.

I wonder how many players/contracts the Canucks have in the bottom 50 compared to those teams

WTF is that all about? I wonder if that’s true, I know it’s done as a last resort on occasion but you can’t convince me Allvin or Rutherford couldn’t find a deal for Boeser.

If Columbus can get a 3rd & a 4th for Oliver Bjorkstrand surely to God they can get something for Boeser who consistently puts up 20 goals.

- LeftCoaster

Boeser is not a good skater, has an extensive injury history, does not play well in his own end, carries a high cap hit.

I think you might get a 3rd rounder for him.

Solid game from Stillman.

Win now move the Canucks could make.

Conor Garland for Jack Roslovic + Wpg 4th.

So they can get in a new crop of players that y'all will hate....
- Brooks_Light

No, draft picks and youth bring hope and excitement. Look at how young the Canadiens are, they’ve got a nice group there and last draft they had six picks in the first three round, this year they have another two first round picks. Their fans have a reason to be optimistic. Do we?

That trade was also made on July 22nd. When teams still had cap space

Don’t know how much (if anything) it has to do with Brock Boeser, but there are as many NHL scouts at Rogers Arena tonight as I’ve seen all season. I counted 11 teams represented.

Understood but there’s still value there for a 20+ goal scorer. Boeser plays on a poopty defensively responsible team, again I’ll bring up Oliver Bjorkstrand, he had 28 goals and 57 points and he was still -35 last year. He has his warts as well.

To think they can find a deal if they eat some of the terrible contract they just signed him to just doesn’t add up for me.

They should talk to Edmonton and Buffalo fans about "optimism" over lots of draft picks and young players.

I think that kind of thinking is completely misguided. Do you honestly think there hasn’t been any optimism in Edmonton over the past eight years? Of course there has been. Fans have two of the best players in the world, they also just went to the third round of the playoffs and have produced how many 100 point seasons in the past few seasons.

I would gladly take that over the crap we’ve been watching for the past eight years. Oilers fans wanna win the Cup, I get it, Canucks fans just wanna stop losing….those two things are completely different from each other.

I think they're gonna have to take back a contract as well. Kapanen + 2nd (2024) or 3rd is what I'd think

It's only 2.5 more years as well. Not 4 like Bjorkstrand.

Van has backed themselves into a corner with trades though. Hard time seeing any GM giving them any sort of value though. You might gain some cap space by getting bent over but that doesn't change the desperation that the Canucks still have.

I'd honestly just play the games and when someone comes with some value for a player than take it.

Rutherford said they wouldn't make a trade just to make a trade. He should probably stick to that until the deadline honestly.

Oh I get your point - and the Canucks could do the exact same thing but Canucks fans/media would find a way to have the entire new crop traded, run out of town, or grass is greener hated upon within a few years - it's what they do!! Can't help themselves.
