Retool you decide the how’s what’s & whens lol
- Nighthawk

I think they are using the word retool loosely. I recall JR saying something along the lines of "Call it a rebuild or retool, what ever you want to call it, blah blah blah." Retool is obviously a word FA is more comfortable with over rebuild. The Bo move is more rebuild than retool.

Remember Jim knows more than you do.

I'd say most fans rebuilds vs any management rebuild ever has been different.

Anytime you start moving out top 6 vets for pick(s) and prospect(s) you are more of a rebuild than retool.

As much as I don't like this management team, I actually think they have something of a plan.
As I mentioned after they selected Liquorman, they did select the BPA. We can argue all we want about whether he was the right puck, but, they at least took a player that was ranked higher by all rankings, than wear he ended up going.
They then went on to say something like, he is at least 2 years away(Brock timetable?), then filled in with signings like the Miller deal and the Mikheyev deal etc, while also trying to take some gambles on filling some holes on defense, until they can clear cap.

I don't agree with most of what they have done, as it is almost identical to the Benning plan, but I at least see a plan, that is for down the road.

I'd say the trade comparables laid it out pretty good for if the Canucks and Oilers were to make that trade.

Edmonton: Stillman

Canucks: JP and Edm 2nd.

My deal is,

Edmonton: Schenn 875k UFA, Joshua 825k UFA2024

Canucks: Pullymyharvey 3m RFA 2023, Foegele 2.75m UFA2024, Raphael Lavoie, Edm 1st

Gives the Oilers cap space that they need ASAP. After the ALL-Star break they have to become compliant as Yamamoto is coming back and they will have to make a move. They get Schenn on bargain UFA contract to shore up their 2nd/3rd pairing. As well some toughness in Joshua that they definitely need. Joshua had some decent playoff numbers with the Blues.
Canucks get JP on an expiring deal that they can resign way cheaper and try the ole reclamation project or let walk if it doesn't work. Foegele, that has been a big disappointment since going to Edm from Car, but is a big body, only 26, probably a Tocchet type player, and only has a year left anyways. Could be a flipper next deadline on a rebound year. A good 22 year old 6'4" 196# C 2nd rounder(38OA) that is developing nicely in Bakersfield, and their 1st pick that should fall in the 18 - 20 range.
Is the EDM 1st too much, 2nd instead? The Oilers only have so many kicks left at a true Cup run before Drai and McD are up. The cap space is pure gold for them.
I'm no cap genius, but I think this can be squeezed in under the Canucks limit?

I thought my weed was strong!

Don't think Edmonton includes Raphael or a first because they over value pullvalter.

It's probably fair market value without Raphael but don't see them doing it.

Honestly I can't remember what JR and PA said in the presser before Bo got moved

They spew so much bullsh1t that I don't care what they say anymore. When things happen, they happen.

Yup, so be it, let's get this major surgery into high gear.

I could care less how he feels he was treated either, hopefully he picks up his stare down game in NY. Good riddance.

Rebuild from what I gather from listening to NHL execs is different than what public perception is.

I am not as optimistic as you.

Sign coach two years /fire coach fifty games later.
Sing JTM to 7 year deal with one year remaining.
Sign Boeser/Trade Boeser
Trade Demko and leave behind two number 3 goalies
Trade a second for Stillman (I don't care how people want to twist this about a cap dump. Both were bad ideas.)
Trade first line center who has 30 plus goals for a third line player with 9 goals a mid first and a reclamation project.

Sounds like a hell of a plan

Believe me, I am not overly optimistic, all I was pointing out was, I see a plan, but it is almost identical to the Benning plan.
I didn't mind the Bo trade, as I felt they had to start somewhere

How is Raty a reclamation project? He had a monstrous D+1 season and his D+2 season has him nicely adjusting to NA hockey. He is a B+ Prospect with solid upside and a high floor.

Funny
You come at it like it is way too much from the Oilers, and Mini say it is nowhere near enough...lol. And I see this as fair in between you two.
The Oilers done with Puj. and have to make a move in the next week. If they want a dman that in our consensus is worth a 2nd, then how would us taking on extra cap and giving them assets not be worth more?

I think you are being just a tad optimistic.

Not that I hang on every statement management makes, but back when minor surgery was needed, it was a 2 year surgery, now that it is major surgery, I would think you are looking at 4-5 years.

- Reubenkincade

Longer the better 👍🏻
