I was reading yesterday how a player in the late '80's or early '90's was traded during the skills competition.

Gradin, Lindgren, Delorme and the Russsian, I think his name is Chibasov, can all fuck off.
- Reubenkincade

Delorme is highly useless.

That's my list.

They are old though and you'd think they might have a hard time adapting to new hockey and would be looking at taller defenders that aren't that good and centers that are physical 2 way players. Things that are from hockey 20 years ago.

I wanted McGroary but went 14th. Snuggerud was next up for me. Nobody had Bystedt & the usual whining of another Swede woulda rang out.

Didn’t care for any D at 15th at that time. Now though wish it were Bichsel.

Actually, you are wrong, I talked about Bystedt several times. He would have been a nice pick, just not where the Canucks picked, but I don't always follow the BPA of the draft lists that are out there.

Also, not 1 person whined about me suggesting Bystedt would be a player to consider.

I don't know what you use but forums on a computer, go to Canucks icon and click on it will give you all the forums. I believe on cell phone it changes to "boards" not forums. Same thing click on the Canucks icon and it gives you all the links

I never follow any BPA list. I develop my own & add in need if sensible &/or trade down in my pocket.

You go off like Don Cherry all the time when it comes to Swedes. If you wanted Bystedt or Bichsel didn’t see a trade down suggested. Nobody sees why I have one ready in the case my guy is there later.

Ya, I hate Swedes, which is why I have brought up players like Edvinsson and Bystedt, months maybe even a year before they are drafted.

You like a certain type of player and I like a totally different type. I am sure my type of players are winning types and yours are the shiny types for the regular season tank jobs.

Also, why would I have a trade down scenario for Bichsel/Pickering, when I had them right around the area where the Canucks were picking?
In regards to Bystedt, I had said if they could get a late 1st, or early 2nd, he would be a nice add.

Just because you think up some imaginary fantasies, doesn't mean others have to play along.

I wonder who the scout is that thinks if the Canucks have a 4th round pick they should take a high school player.

Since 2014 the Canucks have had 5- 4th round picks. 3 of them have been US high school players. Rathbone, Kunz, Gardner.

Rathbone probably 50/50 whether he plays NHL ever again. Kunz is often a healthy scratch in college and Gardner is a PPG in USHL as a 19 year old comparable to drafting Aidan McDonough in the 7th round as a 19 year old.

Having an imagination creates options vs lack of creativity. You rather reach instead of where they were picked is fine by me if you wanna pass up on a potential trade with a sweetener. It’s so easy to say just gain more picks. That is fantasy.

Also he can explain why McGroarty or Snuggerud are shiny players. My guess is it’s bias against Americans as usual.

I think it was Hampson or something like that, who was looking at the US high schools, but was part of the house-cleaning.
Pretty sure it was a directive from Judd Brackett, the most overrated Canucks scout ever.

The draft strategy just doesn't necessarily jive with studies that have shown that drafting certain types or age or production would produce more NHL regulars.

The slow descent into facism continues, the hand that holds the leash is as wrong as the jack boots it commands.

Frankly all drugs and everything should be legal as long as it doesn't infringe on another person's bodily autonomy. People kill themselves eating big macs and heart disease as often as with hard drugs.

I'm a weed guy but we shouldn't have full prisons of drug offenders while letting rapists out after several months.

Oh yeah he was the guy older than JR. I guess JR wanted to be the unquestioned old man of the franchise so he wanted Hampson and Bruce out

Actually, I was basing my thoughts on Bystedt about the speculation of some movements, once the new management team came aboard, and then even moreso, when the talk heated up around Miller being moved out, and to a lesser extent Boeser.
What I had said was getting a late 1st in a deal would be fine, as there are some good players available late in the 1st and early into the 2nd.
I specifically named Nathan Gaucher and Filip Bystedt, and if I am not mistaken, you said it is not worth it, as those 2 players don't move the needle.

You can call it a reach anytime you want, I call it making sense, which seems to escape you.

The hindsight part of drafting for us is being able to look back and see what could have been. When you look back at what could have been just by the numbers. It's plain and simple.

Example Rathbone. Good High school numbers but Michael Anderson, same age, left shot D, little bit bigger had put up 34 points in 54 games in a MUCH better league. Guaranteed that if you put their numbers against each other analytics wise, Anderson comes out much further ahead.
