He's a Tocchet type of winger from what I've heard. Rathbone for Poolparty?
- manvanfan

Oilers won't go for that. I could see them taking D.Petey and Hoglander plus a second.

I don't hate on him, never have, so not moronic.
He is just not the type of dman that the Canucks need at the moment. They have 0 structure, so have a rover D man, by definition means non structured player.

- carsonagenic

He is 23 and will be hitting prime years when we start competing. I disagree completely. What we need to do is build a Defense around his strengths to improve what he does for our team.

Need to stop doing that. They have plenty of wingers anyway.

I don't think Canucks will pay it but I do think that is what the Oilers will ask.

Great Dman to have when you also have a Hedman type true #1.Hughes by himself playing as a #1 gets exposed for what he is.
- carsonagenic

He was pretty damn solid beside Tanev and with that pairing, the big minutes didnt expose him. I don't think Hughes requires a Dman of Hedman's etc caliber to cover his ass and let him flourish without all the negatives in tow. Just a safe mobile two way or stay at home. I'm basing this on what we have already seen, not what has been tagged on him by fans.

Small sample, those are the top 10 D in scoring in the NHL right now and there shorthand TOI per game.

The great Steve Yzerman saying teams that have defence that are active in the offence zone is why teams are struggling to defend. Van fans talking about how great of a GM he is but then argue against his view point.

Tanev injured again. I am not sure but I think this one he could off for some time. I just glanced over a headline this morning.

My point was more that Bo had great numbers, top line center, was part of what helped Canucks win games, still young. Not much different than the fans wanting to move Hughes.

If you were happy to move Bo then it is not any different that the fans that want to move Hughes.

- VANTEL

Some fans want Hughes moved because of logic... fair enough. But you listen to the bulk of the people who want him gone and all I hear from them is spite and ignorance.

Nurse and Hughes would be a pretty wicked D combo tbh.
Expensive, but deadly.

To me, Hughes is Erhoff but without Hamhuis as his partner. Great offensively and with elite pick handling and PP QB but small and unable to handle 25-30 minutes a night without causing too many problems in his own end. If you had a Hamhuis or an Ohlund or even a Jovonoski that can be that big reliable minutes munching D that can play in all situations for 25-30 minutes a night to let Hughes not have to be "The Guy", maybe he does break Orr's single season record for defensemen scoring.

Why do people say buy out Myers? He has a five-mil bonus next year. They would be very dumb to buy him out.

You are the second idiot I've read to mention buying out Myers.

Let me help you out. Myers buyout cost 5.333. A savings of 666k for year 1.

Waivers saves teams 1.15M I believe next season. It would make A LOT more sense to send him to waivers instead of buying him out.

Some things never change with a player for very long.

His style/ability is the point I was making. Not that I think you missed that...

Yeah I did get that.

The thing about Tanev's playing style is what gets him constantly injured.

That is what it will cost to pry him. I do think Canucks will look the other way, even though I think he would be a good fit. He reminds me of a Lars Eller only a winger.

I do know it is a lot to pay. I don't see him being dealt here but some team will pay a second-round pick for him. Boston?

She's bathing the kid.

Plus, I would just play him. Buying him out and waiving him isn't going to create enough cap space to change much anyways. Might as well try and create an asset out of him and sell him during the season.

Ottawa paid a 3rd for Hamonic, Canucks used that 3rd for Dermott. Both of them suck way more than Myers does.
