Name them. There are only a handful of 1D that can do what Hughes does.
- Retinalz

hyperbole aside, I would actually be interested to see a list of better Dmen that can do what Hughes does but is better defensively and is a big Pk'er.

i'd guess there are 5-8?

Great Dman to have when you also have a Hedman type true #1.Hughes by himself playing as a #1 gets exposed for what he is.

How is that even possible, Hughes is 7th in scoring among defensemen. Right off the bat, you only have 6 teams with a defensemen that scores as much as Hughes does.

He is also 2nd in PP points among defensemen. Can't name 28 teams there either.

He is 25th among all defence in 5v5 goals for vs goals against. Some of those ahead are playing 5 less 5v5 minutes per game too. For D that play 18 minutes or more (64) of them he is 10th.

15th in take aways per 60 among D that play 18 minutes or more per game but 104th in giveaways per 60.

As i've mentioned before. So many people here hate on our players simply because they are Canucks and the team as a whole are doing poorly. Hughes is part of the solution, not the problem.

Great offensive Dman on a good team. The wrong dman on a team that can't play D.

Hedman is generational, same with Makar. To hate on Hughes simply because he isn't a generational talent is moronic. Hughes is more effective with a Schenn type partner, but he makes Schenn/Bear better, not the other way around. Schenn will get us a 2nd and it largely thanks to Hughes.

I have floated that many times. Not anywhere near worth his draft position, by a solid numbers guy on a 3rd line.

Great. I like the return in Raty and a 1st. Beau is meh, but next years TDL he can probably get us a 2nd or more. We need to reset the team and he is the first domino. Now to trade Boeser and Miller.

I don't hate on him, never have, so not moronic.
He is just not the type of dman that the Canucks need at the moment. They have 0 structure, so have a rover D man, by definition means non structured player.

Nurse and Hughes would be a pretty wicked D combo tbh.
Expensive, but deadly.

Hughes and Boeser

My point was more that Bo had great numbers, top line center, was part of what helped Canucks win games, still young. Not much different than the fans wanting to move Hughes.

If you were happy to move Bo then it is not any different that the fans that want to move Hughes.

Makar 2:48
Fox 2:11
Dahlin 1:36
Montour 1:07
Hughes :59
Josi :55
Morrissey :23
Hamilton :16
Karlsson :13
Heiskanen 1:59

Small sample, those are the top 10 D in scoring in the NHL right now and there shorthand TOI per game.

He's a Tocchet type of winger from what I've heard. Rathbone for Poolparty?
