I wonder if the NYI pick is 13-15, and the Canucks are 4-7 th could we add next year's 1st, and the two picks this year to get Bedard??
- onesmallleap

I am probably the only one that does not mind if it is next year's first. The team is getting old.

JR says a lot of things but overwhelmingly, the hockey community has said the opposite.

We can't forget that BB was JR's top 2 guy when he was winning and not his guy when BB was losing.

- boonerbuck

You don’t read between the lines very well. Top 2 isn’t his 1st choice. He also didn’t hire BB & wasn’t told about the year 2 option. This years version set records for ineptness. That’s on BB after better players were added. BB is gone so idgaf it’s time to look ahead.

Nah, a few people have mentioned that if the pick moves to next year and is unprotected, and things go our way (Bo doesn't re-up with the NYI, etc), you could end up with an Ottawa-Colorado situation where we get an even higher pic in 2024.

The captain stuff is overrated at this time. Starting with team D is one thing coaches can do. Starts with line dynamics & systems. Personnel is the GM’s job. Prospect depth is the GM’s job. Abby is important to develop players for what they need to do to make an impact. These last 33 games is where to start & why BB is a goner. It matters not on the optics he suffered he didn’t get close to any team identity or continuity.
- Nighthawk

The D is more than coaching, they've had 3 successive coaches try to implement team D and it's failed miserably. Mostly because the players they have barely know the meaning of the word forecheck and taking the body. It doesn't matter if Abby is good at developing players if the big team is incapable of playing D that isn't chasing pucks, stick checking and body positioning. It also doesn't help that your #1D is a poor man's Paul Coffey.

That is what I am saying I would not mind at all if we get the 2024 pick instead.

Hit the tankathon draft sim x 5

6th OA x 2
Dropped 1 to 7th OA x 2

And then got 1st overall on the 5th and final roll (i would have kept going until it moved up).

As much as i want to believe we'll get a top 5 pick, I can't really imagine it.

Our eternal destiny is 7th OA imo

- dbot

Odds that 6oa stays at 6th are very good. See the last column.

https://www.tankathon.com/nhl/pick_odds

1oa has the worst odds to remain the same.

I read it on Canucks nation earlier and they had their source there. That’s why I said we’re going crazy… no way Demko goes, until his UFA year & they’re not going to sell him at his lowest value.

I'd do that deal in a heartbeat.

I sort of like the idea of a group of leaders. Why place the burden on one?
- manvanfan

That’s always best. It starts on & off the ice & practices. Game time you wear it on your sleeve. One thing everyone omits by mistake or on purpose is there is no quit on this team.

Imagine if he asked for a trade already and they agreed to sit him until they find a suiter or until the team that has agreed makes cap space.

One can dream...

If the pick in in the twenty something range I'd rather just make it this season and not drag it out...

If they resign Bo before the TDL, things could be looking up for the Islanders.

Not aimed at you but I don't give a rat's ass who they make captain. Who cares. Who wants to be the captain of a sinking ship? Is the Titanic captain still available?

I think teams like the original six have a history to reward someone the honor but teams like this who cares. I would be fine if they made the Zamboni driver the captain.

- VANTEL

I’m not over worried about naming a captain. A captain imo is a born leader who leads by example & savours the pressure & craves it.

Type ‘A’ personality that can moderate his temperament to suit the situation. That is either Miller or Hughes as the closest. Miller is too fiery & a loose cannon. Has to be smarter channeling it. Hughes is highly intelligent & passionate. Needs to be more of a dlck. Schenn just exudes Captain in all things.

Bo should test UFAy. Could get a very good paycheck and his team growing up is the Wings.

LAK 4-1

Canes need scoring but if you talk to Canes fans KK is awesome & we can offer no help.

- Nighthawk

I said they need Miller more than Horvat.

Canucks need a couple of 2nd rounders for this draft and go for D.
- boonerbuck

Agree but early 2nd is best. Once the 1st round unravels D will really go fast imo.

I guess we go C D D C first 3 rounds.

I would do it if true.
Turn around and flip Quick to a contender needing an aged backup

- dbot

That's a big hell no to me. It's honestly not worth one more year of Myers to get rid of his contract unless someone is going to give you value for keeping half of it or something.

It's not that i'm high on anyone per se.
But.
i think Demko might be broken and past his use by date.
I'd take this offer and run.
I think we can all agree that the sooner we get out of Myers the better.

A RHD youngster and another young C are nice adds to the prospect pool.
I'd flip Quick for a 2nd in this alternate reality.
