The worst thing they could ever do is put a "C" on Pettersson sweater. He's extremely talented but he's not the guy, he's too timid and quiet.

I see on social media people suggesting Hughes.

I am happy to move on, I just get a laugh about how people blame Bo. Remember, this guy was under the tutelage of the Sedin's who many think will be such an excellent development team, for the young players, then Bo had the great Willie Desjardins, who benched you, if you were physical, or were mean, then he had another hall of fame calibre coach, who had systems that no one understood and didn't emphasize any type of physicality, then of course the great Bruce there it was, who was never a coach who had his teams play a hard game.
Sometimes players become what they have been taught when they get to the big leagues, and Bo is a perfect example of that.
This organization ruins many a players.

- Reubenkincade

Sure some truth to that. It’s a cowardly organization. But Bo also needs to be held accountable and has been

Sorry, but this is a complete load of shit. Horvat was never a set the tone physical kind of player, even back in junior. He's just not a yappy in your face, don't do that kinda guy. You either have it in you, or you don't, he doesn't. He isn't the issue though, it's the whole team, or at least 99% of them, that play a soft individual game. Not many guys on the Canucks today will stick up for one another, except Luke Schenn.

Sidney Crosby's not a fighter but he's a yappy little (frank)er and he doesn't backdown from anyone in a scrum and he doesn't mind giving you the stinky glove or putting you in a headlock. Bo Horvat is not that type of guy or player, he never was. And that's fine. Moving on from him and all the rest of the guys like that to build a better culture is hopefully on the way...but with Allvin in charge I'm not exactly breaming with hope.

I'm going to laugh when people push for Petey to be captain like last time when I laughed my ass off. Leads by example. Doesnt fight. Quiet.

Miller can't handle criticism, terrible at leading by example... the C on him would be pure entertainment. It's a good way to get him off the books.

- boonerbuck

No captain. It’s that simple. No one other than Schenn deserves it and he is gone.

Like Henrick was. Not good enough to win a Hart or go deep deep into the playoffs because of his quiet timid personality. If the GM did something like put rugged tougher players around him it may have happened. But no one stood up for each other in his time because he didnt fight and yap so they went nowhere in the playoffs.

Only the stupidest of delusional fanboys push that narrative. Sadly that’s most of our fanbase and possibly our GM Elias would be a hilariousy bad choice

I'm not even upset about this trade

I'm just waiting to judge it until the next big move because so far these guys are making moves that contradict each other and it's pretty confusing. I get that some of you want change just for the sake of it and I get that because I do too, but if there's no clear direction then this will be Benning 2.0 and you guys celebrating right now will be the ones upset that team still sucks.

This trade on it's own is pretty irrelevant without a well executed plan. If the plan is the shuffle the deck chairs around and go in hard for the playoffs again next year then good luck

In principle yes. Let's see the execution of the draft and how Raty pans out. If we draft another Lickermaki and Raty turns out to be a Studnicka then it becomes less good.

- VANTEL

Everyone's always looking for a homerun, which is human nature, but it doesn't have to be that way. The organization FINALLY didn't let a player walk away for nothing. If Raty turns into a third line center and they draft a third pairing dman with the pick it's a win for the franchise...I don't care what anyone says. That's how you build depth within the organization.

You are right about the theory behind the move. You have to hope the team has done their homework and Raty pans out, and they draft well.

I don't by your thoery though about a third line center and third pairing Dman. This team already has tons of those type players, and you don't give up a thirty goal first line center for that.

So you are basing wins in trades on what previous regimes have done.... you know, where the bar is set. You lost your poop over and over back when I was bringing up what past regimes have done when Benning was making half assed moves. It's incredible how you can't stay on track with your very own positions.

Over and over you argued that past mistakes by former GM's have nothing to do with whether this and that is a good move with new management. Make your mind up dumb ass.

It almost feels like Demko is the canary in the coal mine. If they trade him it's rebuild time.

Management did exactly what they said they were looking to do, trade their best assets for players that haven't lived up to expectations. Reclamation projects.

Fingers crossed they work out.

Still feels that way to me. This was a baby step, there's a long way to go to prove they actually want substantial change. My money is on running it back with a new leadership group and a healthy Demko next year and seeing what happens.

Why do they need a captain? Who is a decent candidate? Kuzmenko is probably the best choice and that’s pretty (frank)ed

It’s not about what they have now, which they don’t have hardly any young big defenders in their pool, it’s about five years down the road.
