Just seen a headline "Horvat trade will take time to digest".

I think that is an excellent way to put it. I think the trade today is underwhelming, but I need to wait and see what becomes of it in the future.

To me it’s all about the big picture, Raty and the puck aside, if it’s the start of a direction change then great, if it not then let the circus continue

It almost feels like Demko is the canary in the coal mine. If they trade him it's rebuild time.

I don’t think the turn this team around in 2 years plan is in sync with trading Bo either so that’s a good step 1 but yeah if they start shopping Demko for futures(which I’m sceptical about right now), then I’ll start believing that this is an actual rebuild

I think we’re already headed down this path, but I still having your favourite team win it all trumps any fantasy league wins or winning a few hundred dollars on a gambling site.

But yeah you’ll likely see more Dubas types than JR’s.

- Nucker101

You would think winning everything trumps all but look how busy social media is every day telling you to go the other way.

I already know you are going to say but it is for the future but very few people live in the future and are really enjoying the now. The draft is huge, and more fan bases have a chance of winning the draft.

I think yesterday's trade was not good yet look how many were thrilled that it happened. I think if Horvat was traded for a bag of pucks most fans would still be happy because of the tanking potential.

I can’t believe you defend Bo. Shocking given the style of play you enjoy
- CanuckDon

I am happy to move on, I just get a laugh about how people blame Bo. Remember, this guy was under the tutelage of the Sedin's who many think will be such an excellent development team, for the young players, then Bo had the great Willie Desjardins, who benched you, if you were physical, or were mean, then he had another hall of fame calibre coach, who had systems that no one understood and didn't emphasize any type of physicality, then of course the great Bruce there it was, who was never a coach who had his teams play a hard game.
Sometimes players become what they have been taught when they get to the big leagues, and Bo is a perfect example of that.
This organization ruins many a players.

Not sure yet lil' guy. Let's see how your 12 hour daily whining session goes tomorrow lol.

But on another note this is good day for you hey champ? It's now easier to get opioids, meth, cocaine and MDMA than it is to buy eggs in British Columbia.

Well done.

You have to wonder what the long term plan is.

They’ve signed late 20’s Miller for 7 years, traded away a 2nd to dump JD, bridge deal’s Kuz and traded Bo for futures all within a few months. To me those are two very different set of moves that contradict each other

- Nucker101

Sime of that was done the minor surgery phase and some of it done under the now major surgery phase.

Sorry, but this is a complete load of shit. Horvat was never a set the tone physical kind of player, even back in junior. He's just not a yappy in your face, don't do that kinda guy. You either have it in you, or you don't, he doesn't. He isn't the issue though, it's the whole team, or at least 99% of them, that play a soft individual game. Not many guys on the Canucks today will stick up for one another, except Luke Schenn.

Sidney Crosby's not a fighter but he's a yappy little (frank)er and he doesn't backdown from anyone in a scrum and he doesn't mind giving you the stinky glove or putting you in a headlock. Bo Horvat is not that type of guy or player, he never was. And that's fine. Moving on from him and all the rest of the guys like that to build a better culture is hopefully on the way...but with Allvin in charge I'm not exactly breaming with hope.

I'm going to laugh when people push for Petey to be captain like last time when I laughed my ass off. Leads by example. Doesnt fight. Quiet.

Miller can't handle criticism, terrible at leading by example... the C on him would be pure entertainment. It's a good way to get him off the books.

This is at least a good trade, in principle. I personally think they got decent value for a rental. The first round pick and a good center prospect is huge for the organization. I read today that this is the first mid-season first round pick the organization has acquired since the Pavel Bure trade so many years ago. Positive steps.

The worst thing they could ever do is put a "C" on Pettersson sweater. He's extremely talented but he's not the guy, he's too timid and quiet.

In principle yes. Let's see the execution of the draft and how Raty pans out. If we draft another Lickermaki and Raty turns out to be a Studnicka then it becomes less good.
