That's a red flag for me, if you aren't and to handle the stress of being potentially drafted high, then that didn't bode well for being clutch when you need to be (like during the stretch drive it in the playoffs)
- DariusKnight

They are teenagers when drafted. They can & do grow and mature after being drafted.

I’m told from another club that was highly interested and involved in the Canucks
Horvat deal, that Van didn’t shop the offer, and locked in on the NYIslanders package. Well folks

Unless that team was Detroit and they were going to offer Kasper or Edvinsson which I doubt. The offer would have had to been over the top.

You are going to say they don't stick up for each other being 2nd in fighting majors?

You are asking me if I ever played hockey and I'm waiting for someone to mention anything about their identity during the play.

KY Jelly says it's not about fighting but nobody is mentioning anything else and Nucker keeps referencing scrums.

What about during the game? Forecheck? Dig for loose pucks? winning board battles? being first to loose pucks? Crashing the net together? Back checking hard shift in and out?

Does this team do any of that in a pack mentality for periods of the game instead of one guy does it one shift here and there while his teammates watch.

Yes, every 18 year old should be 100% failproof at that age with the amount of pressure and attention directly solely at them

I say only "A"s for this year and next. Let the room sort it out with the turnover. No need to rush anything and put more responsibility on someone
- NewYorkNuck

So if you are Miller you are ok with that? If he is a true Alpha there is no way he accepts Petey taking the C. Hughes could be the right choice then. I will enjoy Hughes taking the show face offs against people like Chara

Timing is everything. If Daniel Sedin punched Marchand back or even speared him in the junk.....

I found this in an article on Chychrun :
Coyotes development coach Steve Sullivan said while he disagreed with scouts who criticized Chychrun's hockey IQ as the draft drew closer, there was a legitimate reason why his stock fell.

"I think it was about being tense," Sullivan said. "All the pressure of wanting to be second overall and maybe not having a great season; it snowballed the wrong way for him.

So you think it was stress of being so highly ranked?

- TJTD

I don’t buy that. There were many scouts that not only talked about his IQ but his character. It was even talked about by Bob and the panel when JC was picked. Many scouts sent him lower because of character issues.

Possibly... but recent trends don't really suggest that:

So if they have been that bad since last year, miss this year again.. it's more likely they're not going to get better overnight with the same group. They could spend and move things around this offseason, but I think if they miss the playoffs Lou is gone.

Its a dice roll still. People are loading the dice with wishful thinking.

They should name Miller captain and let the chips fall where they may. They signed him to 8m per so they hitched their wagon to that....unless they can trade him...which would be the best move....and likely impossible
- TJTD

I agree on Miller wearing the C. Not because I think he's a good leader.

Petey is another lead by example player but I dont think he has the mental fortitude someone like Bo does and this narrow minded fan base would grind him down. Miller on the other hand would request a trade pretty quick.

No, but they've been given the best coaching/training/academies since grade school, by their draft year they should know what to expect and at least be able to handle it. Most highly touted draftees have no problems managing the stress and all that comes with being drafted so those that can't are suspect in my mind. Can they mature? Sure, but it's still a red flag for me

Considering human development works different for everyone and some peoples brains are still developing into their 20s, I think it's a little unfair to say they should all be able to handle it that early just because they got the proper training

Lou just (frank)ed us up even more for the future. Idc about trading Beau. I care about trading our best Prospect and only Center depth piece and our 2023 draft pick in a very stacked draft

Heat pump gave out, got a new one installed today...pricey units!! I need a beer.

Edit: it's truly a baffling phenomenon that people care about the player more than the team. Horvat's a nice kid but he's a creampuff, he can fuck off!!
