If it has to be explained to you the point is probably already lost on you. No one is talking about being the "third-man-in" to a fight. They're talking about just generally standing up for one another, two examples of that are, the punch that Garlund took, and the crosscheck Joshua took in front of the net where no one did anything, nothing, crickets. They didn't have to fight but someone should've reacted to those two instances.

Most, if not all, of the fights this year for the Canucks have been for individual reasons, not for guys sticking up for one another. I think Schenn has a couple but the guys don't generally seem to care for one another. Which is why they need to make major changes within that dressing room.

React how?

My wife is shaking her head at you and others. I've been reading comments to her. She thinks you are an idiot to think that what you are saying hasn't led you back to the same thing, fighting.

So we're hoping the islanders finish somewhere between 16th-19th ideally. Best case scenario, that would mean we get their 13-16th pick. I want that pick this year.

Surprisingly/unfortunately, there are not a ton of D in the top ten, but we could snag one with the mid-first. Allan, Gulyayev, Pellikka, Price, Simashev (great name, hope he's a hitter) - I haven't; had time to follow many prospects - any idea if any of these kids look promising??

- Brooks_Light

I agree. I dont want to kick the can a year further down the road and gamble that the
islanders dont improve.

Should look Ratycal.
- Reubenkincade

So why did Raty have such a bad season and fall in the draft. No one answers that. Injury, or was he hanging out with Olli addicted to fortnite? With Bo gone does the team get to pack around their PS5s?

I think Elliotte suggested it as well.

Ask for a first and a young D.

- VanHockeyGuy

A couple weeks back, Elliotte said he relies on his good friend RD, for a lot of his info on the Canucks.

I don't think many teams re giving away young D, unless they have requested a trade.

I'm sure there will be plenty of suitors if they shop Demko, guessing it would start with a first.

I think he had the same issues as Chychrun when he dropped in the draft.

Maybe….goalies don’t return a first often and the dude seems pretty injury prone/ fragile

Because I have what 4 people telling me it's not about fighting but from an outside perspective, an unbiased opinion, that what they are saying is about fighting.

So you are okay with the rest of the crew standing around when someone gets taken advantage of?
- Reubenkincade

Being captain gives the narrow minded someone to blame. They wont name a captain rest of the season so no whipping boy.

But what if it gets pushed to 2024 and the Islanders have a good season, make the playoffs and the Canucks pick in the 20's? It could backfire as well...
- boonerbuck

Possibly... but recent trends don't really suggest that:

Since the start of the 2021-22 campaign, both the Canucks and the Islanders have played over 130 contests, and they rank 19th and 20th among all NHL teams by point percentage.

So if they have been that bad since last year, miss this year again.. it's more likely they're not going to get better overnight with the same group. They could spend and move things around this offseason, but I think if they miss the playoffs Lou is gone.

I found this in an article on Chychrun :
Coyotes development coach Steve Sullivan said while he disagreed with scouts who criticized Chychrun's hockey IQ as the draft drew closer, there was a legitimate reason why his stock fell.

"I think it was about being tense," Sullivan said. "All the pressure of wanting to be second overall and maybe not having a great season; it snowballed the wrong way for him.

So you think it was stress of being so highly ranked?

They should name Miller captain and let the chips fall where they may. They signed him to 8m per so they hitched their wagon to that....unless they can trade him...which would be the best move....and likely impossible

I was actually talking about the hallway scrum, didn’t notice KB or RK but they may have been there.
Gillis built a tough team.

Except Tanev, said players were not Gillis acquisitions.

I say only "A"s for this year and next. Let the room sort it out with the turnover. No need to rush anything and put more responsibility on someone

That's a red flag for me, if you aren't and to handle the stress of being potentially drafted high, then that didn't bode well for being clutch when you need to be (like during the stretch drive it in the playoffs)
