Generally speaking you don't get returns that are going to impact your team immediately when trading a pending UFA, it's a long game move. There are deals out from teams wanting to compete right now, like when Montreal picked up Nick Suzuki. It'll be some failed kid who they think they can turn around like Kotkaniemi though...good luck to them.

Waddell should be fired for his revenge move signing Kotkaniemi, what a bonehead move. I don't think JK is a bad player, he just wasn't worth what they did there.

I still find it hilarious how personal NHL GM's take RFA offersheets. It's literally fair game.

Grow a pair and deal with it

That should be long enough for him to be screaming gmtfo by the end of it

Depends. Players choose either to be part of the solution or run away. Lifestyle plays a part for many players.

I look forward to the relentless “let’s trade our wingers for a good Center” fantasy trade proposals from Canucks fans once Horvat is gone.

Followed by the eventual JR quote and media narrative:

“Good centers are hard to find”

Wouldn't be surprised if the Canucks don't view KK as a cap dump.

Well he’s no bargain & an offensive black hole.

This team already did the accidental tank thing fort a few years, none of those low finishes that got us Hughes/EP were planned and it didn't work out. Now you have a mediocre team with a bottom 5 prospect pool. And that's what you'll end up with again if they do it all over again unless they luck into a superstar.

We'll still be having this same discussion again in 3-4 years.

Right! It's in the frickin rules, it's allowed. In the end Montreal ended up with Christian Dvorak and Adam Engstrom who they picked with the 3rd they got from Carolina. Kind of a sideways move as Dvorak and Kotkaniemi are probably of equal talent but they did pick up a defensive prospect so there is that.

He's good. He's just not the offensive star Montreal touted him as. His defensive numbers are approaching what Jordan Staal puts up though, so long term he's just going to be a cheaper version of that.

A lot of these young players on on their 3rd or 4th coach, in Horvat's case 4th, it's time to throw the chairs overboard and stop with the nonsense of trying to shuffle them around. New players, new coach, new culture!! Let's f**kin GO!!!

They view him as an emerging talent needing a fresh start on a young progressive organization which is the Vancouver Canucks.

They are going to sign Kuz and I am okay with it. We need some sort of entertainment for the next few years.

I won't get into this stuff about strip the whole team down when it has no chance of happening.

They are not going to sign Miller to 7-year extension and trade him. That is not the way GMs do business.

They will move some money this year with Pearson and Poolman.

Some things I expect with this new group of coaches is to see Garland come back to his former self and improved playing of Studnicka and Joshua. Joshua in the minors was a real sh1t disturber and if last night was any indication of what we can expect to see from him then it will be a positive.

I am hoping they move on from Bo Hughes Brock and OEL (buyout). I would like to see this team become a little more hardass.

KK & Hayton dropped Hughes to us 👍

KK is also insulated on a good D system team & players that buy in.

Scoring Chances For /60 - 30.03
Against per 60 - 19.76

Not one player on the canucks this season has a SCF/60 rate that high. Not one.

Frankly the more ice time he's gotten the better he's been.

He carries the fourth line because Stastny is so slow he needs to be dragged up and down the ice to be a positive contributer.

Svechnikov and Necas produced at a far higher rate with Kotkaniemi as their center than they have since the decision was made to insulate Stastny instead.

Poolman & Pearson likely ride it out on LTIR.

I could see Garland reinvented.

Both Joshua & Studnicka looked better last game under RT. Imo cuz he likes duos & 3rd wheels like I always liked & wanted.

I think Bo is gone & hoping Brock in the offseason. Hughes is staying. OEL 1 more year then buyout last 3 years if no big improvement.

I don't think you can build around two frames in Petey and KK that would fit into one body. Game has changed, but not that much. Some size still matters and guys of that stature, not many can handle it without being constantly injured.
