And Bo 9.5 x 8. Those GM's last night must have been scouting CHI.

Horvat has been on the team for eight years, and they've sucked for seven and a half of those years. So you wanna pay him more to get the same results? That's just foolishness. The team needs different players and to start a new culture, moving Horvat is the wise thing to do because he's a player other teams want and they probably have players that can supplement what he can provide. The Canucks don't, thus it's time to move him and start over.

I begrudgingly agree. It would have been nice to cash in on Miller's 99 pt season via trade as well, but gotta cash in on Bo's 50-60 goal pace. Same thing as Miller, he's shown nothing even close to that before. Gotta cash in on one of them for the rebuild at least ... I wish it was Miller but that ship has sailed, gotta be Bo now.

Jesperi Kotkaniemi, Dylan Coghlan and a first round pick (or Scott Morrow) that's the deal...just a matter of time.

I look forward to the relentless “let’s trade our wingers for a good Center” fantasy trade proposals from Canucks fans once Horvat is gone.

Using that logic, Pouty has been here for 5 seasons and the team has sucked the entire time. Trade everyone of these guys.

Boston can offer a much better package. That one is garbage.

I think it’s a tad overblown. I personally enjoyed how they tortured Bruce and I know there are other fans out there that feel the same way.

That won't take long, some will even suggest to sign a UFA centre at 8 million per.

You want to keep Bo? You seem to be going in circles more than normal. Everything ok at home?

No one is going to want to be on the end of the deal where the rest of the league says 'woof, that much for a rental?'. Unless there is another Benning out there somewhere, I think the return will be very underwhelming. Canucks are under the gun and everyone knows it.

Not quite, but I understand your ignorance of the game LOL. EP40's been in Vancouver for 4.5 years, Horvat's been in Vancouver for 8.5 years. Elias Pettersson scored more points (66) as a 19 year old rookie than Horvat's ever scored in a single season (61). EP40's never been a minus player and he's a franchise player, Horvat is a good player, but he's not that.

Just looking at what Giroux fetched as a rental, and that would be a decent return for Bo.

Baby steps to actually playing the right way. Big test tonight against the Kraken who the Canucks should aspire to play like.

Trading Horvat is a rebuilding mode, not a re-tool. You think Kotkaniemi is going to turn the team around? He's a 22 year old kid who's struggled thus far in the league. It's a sink move, acquire youth move at the same time.

I've always maintained my views

Option #1: Re-Tool
(a dumb one, but one I can at least see some logic in)

- Re-sign Bo above all else, no winger in this entire organization should be a priority over him in this scenario
- you're winning (frank) all with EP- Miller- Tweener from Bo trade down the middle. - - The sooner this franchise accepts that JT is a top line power winger, the better off they'll be.
- Get Horvat deal done, even if you have to overpay because you're not going to be able to replace him anytime soon which is what you need in order for the re-tool to work.
- Then focus on Kuz, buyout OEL(they won't), and clear any other winger cap that you can this summer, plus Myers if he'll waive
- Pray that you can by some luck land a couple of top 4 dmen over these next 12-24 months by trade or UFA.

Option #2: Rebuild
(this is moot since it's not going to happen, but for fun)

- Trade Horvat, Schenn and Kuzmenko, listen to offers on pretty much any type of trade that positions this team better to compete 3-4 years from now.
- If the worry is that EP won't re-sign, then bridge Kuz and flip him later down the line, Kuz's agent himself said he wants a bridge deal, that's perfect for this scenario
- Sit on OEL and Boeser's deals, no need to take on long term cap penalties for them. I would move Boeser with retention only if I get a pick or prospect back thats good enough to make it worth it.
- As you move out players, more ice time opens up for others, more powerplay time, more pump and dump opportunities.
- Get creative, sign late summer UFA's to 1 or 2 year deals with the intention of flipping them, be a middle man in TDL rental deals where you retain money in a trade and get compensated for it with a pick or prospect
- After 3 years of this, you start looking for opportunities to cash in your chips if a Sam Bennett, Sam Reinhart, Devon Toews or John Marino type of deal pops up.

Him and Petey have some good chemistry going. Tocchet mentioned he likes pairs, something he learned from Scotty Bowman, so they probably won’t trade him….but they should.
