Yeah, people are weirdly remembering Green as some softy who held every players' hands. He was known for running tough training camps. Tocchet is similar to him mindset-wise, they aren't Torts, but they're not Bruce either, it's a middle ground. Hopefully Tocchet is better at communicating than Green though because I do remember players implying that Bruce was an improvement over Green when it came to communication with individual players.

I like Gonchar and Foote as Assistants - though they are rather early in their coaching careers. Not sure why King still has a job - he must be a closet gambler.

If I don't see the collasped defense box, or Meyers off the post but not clearing the net I will call it a major win

I saw a comment on another site saying the Canucks have gone from a Country Club atmosphere to a Casino atmosphere.

Green used to bag skate them all the time....who cares. They will get fed up with Tocchet in a couple of months. Just enough effort to make us pick 15th. Same old story indeed
- TJTD

Green was the same as Boudreau in that they didn't play a structured game and they also defended poorly under him. His systems were too complicated. One can only hope Toc can dumb it down for these clowns so they can play better without the puck. If it doesn't work, it's time to change the players again because you can't keep hiring a new coach every couple years.

Get the right type of players, not just different ones!

I don't get excited, I'm experienced. There's a whole mess of changes that the entire organization needs to embrace before the fans get excited. This is just the first step. About six to ten players need to be changed out, they need to play differently with and without the puck.

The franchise has pretty much hit rock bottom with it's fanbase and the general population, but the players need this. Aquilni, Rutherford & Allvin are massive pieces of shit, I have zero time for them.

See my post last page regarding Green/Tocchet, some hard practices/training camps doesn't matter. Like you said, it goes deeper than that. If you want an identity shift then you have to instruct your scouts to loom for specific traits, instruct your developmental coaches and AHL coaches to have the players play a specific style, etc.

I'm not seeing any of that yet and it's been over a year. They drafted a soft floating winger in the first round last year and brought in some middle 6 wingers. The team is still fun to play against, Miller/Boeser got signed. They still want to extend Bo and extend Kuzmenko.

Dumb

I think NYN posted the other night Canucks are 2-8 in their last 10. That is a perfect pace for bottom five but like everything else, ownership will fuck it up and finish drafting 13th.

Correct...see my post above yours. This is just to start weeding out the weak. Anyone expecting this to turn around quickly is fooling themselves.

I was enjoying the last 10 games. Entertaining and losing. I am a simple man, I don't ask for much, Connor Bedard that is all.

Edit: It looks like the change is creating a new set of slupers and guzzlers

Drance wrote an article the other day basically outlining that the Canucks have the 3rd easiest remaining schedule by strength of opponent.

Between now and the end of the season the Canucks play Chicago three times, Anaheim three times, Arizona twice, Detroit twice, St. Louis twice, San Jose, Philadelphia, Columbus, and Ottawa.

Or, in other words, 16 of Vancouver’s remaining 38 games will see them face the weakest teams in the NHL. There’s a compelling argument to be made that the Canucks have more talent — particularly once Demko returns to the lineup — than all of those teams.

I mean if they lose those it's even better for the tank. But with the new coaching staff bump, I assume they won't.

Someone posted somewhere that Seattle and Flames have an even easier remaining schedule and mentioned it is pretty well league wide.

Tocchet said a lot of the right things. I believe it will be shape up or ship out or fit in or fuck off.

But been down this road many times as a fan. See it to believe it. They get rid of Hughes, then I will believe they are going in a different direction.

How many coaches have they had in the past decade, it's ridiculous. It's the players, they just suck and they don't play a team game. Massive player changes are required. Tocchet will just expose them. I can't wait for his first go-round with Miller...gonna be a beauty because he's going to challenge Miller, he already did it in his first interview by saying it looks like he's pacing himself.
