The Boston Bruins hold a 14 point lead, in their division, a 12 point lead over the next closest team and have twice as many points as the Vancouver Canucks, with the season barely halfway through.

If Carolina didn't like the price for Horvat, not going to like the price for Meier either.

Devils and Rangers are supposedly hard after Meier.

- manvanfan

that was pre-pacioretty going down for the year.

Meier's a year younger, so he has that going for him, but either way Carolina has $30 million in cap space next season and the only bigger pieces not locked up are Staal and one of the goalies.

I won't be surprised to see Vegas starting to be more active. They have been struggling to score lately and have lost Stone for the year, allegedly.
- Reubenkincade

Agreed. Their ownership isn’t patient so there’s legit pressure there to make a deep playoff run.

Not sure about that. I think the Bruins have better one shot threats than the Canes. Canes don’t have a Marchand or Pastrnak.

Plus there’s a theory out there that the Canes style is about out-working and smothering teams, basically playoff style hockey which works during the regular season but when the intensity ramps up for everyone in the actual playoffs the Canes lose some of that edge they had on opponents during the season.

Especially when you’re up against a Boston or Tampa caliber team that have the skill and tenacity combinations that’s tough to beat.

Canes need another legit goal scorer who can beat goalies cleanly.

Precisely. they're not very good when structure gets broken up. Have a hard time keeping up because Brind'amour is so inflexible in his approach.

I get that you're just kidding around, but I don't think they made these changes to try and keep losing. These two teams are about equal, so to win they are going to need to be better than the past few (40ish) efforts.
- Totes McGoats

I'm not kidding about wishing them to lose the rest of their games or the building being half empty. This is a garbage team with garbage ownership and runny poo for management. Horrible organization.

it is when you're looking at a contract extension and one's a UFA instead of an RFA.

Some Seattle writer has said that the price is Shane Wright plus for Bo and it's a sign and trade if it happens.

Carolina is going to need to add something, I think. Without Pacioretty they still struggle to score a little bit.

I think they're going to go hard after Meier. Horvat 2nd choice.

- BINGO!

AGM: We need to upgrade our 2c for playoffs.
GM: Let's get Meier.
AGM: He's a winger...
GM: Did I stutter?
