The cost of moving dead contracts. It all comes back to the horrid decision to sign that absolute worthless piece of trash Brock
- CanuckDon

At the end of the day, this franchise's only hope is to draft and develop some of their own centers/dmen, because the ones that get made available are either geezers or role players. And the decent ones who hit free agency usually get overpaid and wouldn't have Vancouver at the top of their list anyway.

So, what you are saying is, Rutherford lied when he 1st got here, when he said Boudreau would have been his 1st choice and agreed with FA, when he was consulted by him, to hire Boudreau.
- Reubenkincade

Yes, if you honestly think those guys don’t lie to the media then I don’t know what to tell you lol. It’s like Mike Gillis telling the media it was his decision to hire Tortorella.

Wasn't it a 5 th for Pederson and Bear ?
- onesmallleap

JR was asked if it's fair to say that the two trades were connected and he answered yes.

This part of your position I can at least agree with. The cap solution was staring them in the face.

Yeah I think JR is more of a typical GM, Benning was actually the odd one, usually these guys BS their way through most interviews. Benning would straight up just say that he's interested in trading for PK Subban

They knew they needed to address the terrible defense and that’s how they went about it. Those moves are pretty meaningless in the big picture. Now if they go on for another eight years, ok, they become meaningful.

Not to mention that Tochett's style of coaching is the complete opposite of how this team is built.

It is like trying to teach the high school dance club to change to the high school football program.

Well if we are going trade trees and how 1 move is infinitely connected to another, I guess , but what is the RECORDED transaction listed with the NHL?

this is deja vu, death by a thousand cuts again just like the previous regime. Small overpays, bleeding picks/prospects for scraps, even if they're not 1st round prospects/picks, you're throwing away your odds of having your own Forsling in the lineup.

It’s also what Rutherford has said in the last three interviews they, no serious revelations here.

Exactly!

Has been said in here many times as well.

Seriously downgraded the bottom 6, didnt improve the defense and put all their eggs into the top 6 basket which was already this team's best strength aside from goal tending which seems debatable now. In doing this they traded away picks and prospects.

People can dress it up as much as they want but this is what has happened so far. The Richard!nson trade that required parting with a 2nd is a fail. They haven't gained enough cap space to make any difference. It's being touted as a success but they used most of it up to unsuccessfully plug the holes they created so it's nothing more than another fail.

A massive amount of cap space could have been created by dumping Boeser and keeping their 2nd plus Richard!nson instead of Studnika. It's going to cost them at the very least a 2nd if they want to move on from Boeser now... train wreck.

Like with JR/Allvin, I'll keep an open mind but just like with those other 2, I'm pretty skeptical that he's the right guy.
- Nucker101

Not sure who the right coach is for this group, as I have said over and over again, the past few years, this is a terrible mix of players. There is a lot of work to be done to fix, and most isn't by a coach.

I’m just so disgusted with the entire organization, so tiring to be a fan of the constant dysfunction. I really hope they don’t continue down this path. Flyers are almost a mirror image, bottom of the league and no second round pick. It’s Jim Benning of 2016 in Philly right now.

They need a bully

Torts/Keenan/Babcock

I think Tocchet is a tier below them when it comes to being a hardass.

It’s karma for you being a sh!tty fan. Every team you bail on the Canucks for will instantly become trash. When you are done with Seattle please flip flop over to Boston

Here's my theory, BB gets fired tonight after the Canucks lose in a SO 5-4 to the Oilers, and a press conference to introduce Rick Tocchet is called for Monday. Monday rolls around, FA/JR/PA are at the podium with RT and introduces him as the next HC of the Vancouver Canucks and...

Rick Tocchet gets up to the mic and says, "I'd like to thank the Vancouver Canucks, Francesco Aquilini, Jim Rutherford and Patrik Alvinn for this wonderful opportunity. I'd also like to thank my agents for negotiating my contract so that I get paid the majority of my money upfront, so it with great regret... that I resign as Head Coach, effective immediately, I mean... after all, if Bruce Boudreau can be treated like he has, what's stopping this group from doing it to me? So yeah, thanks guys, but no thanks... I'll take my money and go back to broadcasting games on NBC until I get an offer from a functioning organization that doesn't have a d!ck as an owner, an old senile smug, two-faced fart in charge of hockey operations, and a two bit no presence or personality mannequin GM running it. Good day, and good luck everyone... Rick Tocchet, has LEFT THE BUILDING!!! *exits stage right as the media crowd yell questions while FA/JR/PA have jaws on the floor going WTF?!?*

I would be shocked if FA shows his face for a coaching hire, it'll probably be Allvin, and maybe JR too.

Tocchet is going to get a long leash here, he's here for the next 3 seasons minimum.

D1ckenson has more points and more games played this year than Studnicka. End of story. But keep defendinding this sh1tshow.
- VANTEL

They were trading out contract and a player who didn’t play well for us. Richardensin turned it around, but it doesn’t change what they were doing. Your just spinning the story later, at the time Richardinson was an absolute failure here, nothing you say can change that.
