I do have more faith in Benning at the draft table than these guys, despite the Virtanen/OJ misses

That is an extremely low bar to set.

Yeah when they announced Allvin was GM and I had to google who he was, I knew something was up, but I wanted to stay cautiously optimistic. The last of my hope was shattered the day they signed Miller.
- NorthNuck

That was the tipping point for me as well... and it continues to go downhill after that as well. It's amazing how much staff infighting, lashing out at players and coaches, doubling back on fires lit etc etc has happened with these guys in so little time. They are even more dysfunctional than the last group. At least it took a couple of seasons for those cracks to be aired public before. With the speed that this stuff started, you have to wonder where it goes from here.

When a team has well over 30 million tied up in wingers, you know you are in trouble. Over 2/3rds of that are signings/ re- signings, from this new regime.

I would be okay with that, if these players knew how to play a 2-way game, yet they don't.

Waits for the Mikheyev cum-guzzlers.

After it was obvious how soft our team is and its positional needs they take a fluffy winger and claim they had him at 7oa... I have less faith in their drafting as well.

- boonerbuck

Have you ever had faith in Canuck drafting? Canuck draft history is pathetic, regardless of owner, management group, or position in the draft. Take a look at the number of games played by their picks…

Fan & team frustrations are very high. Mgmt is forced into a corner & what they do will define everything.

We’re in a ‘pickle’ waiting on where it all goes. We do know this fanbase will be disappointed on some level & some even bitter just because.

No matter what there will be some fans that complain constantly about the dumbest things. You could do what they ask, it could fail and they would complain, not even realizing they are complaining about what they wanted.

Many of us wanted Lazar and honestly, he's been poop. I don't think Ryan Reaves ever scored at .06 PPG in a season. Most won't talk about wanting him though, they will just complain about something else.

So why should management pay attention to anything the fans want?

Covid kicked the ass of the cap but that is in the past and the league has to figure out a way to make this exciting again.

Fans look forward to the Cup, the Draft, and to trades. The cap league wide and long-term contracts have muted the third most exciting part of the league. Five hundred plus pages right here of 20 people waking up each day hoping there is something new on the trade front backs up my statement.

- VANTEL

Escrow is supposed to be paid back by the players this season. If true then yes trading will open up. Trade front stagnated through all of this.

It was pretty clear when they hired JR, and before that Bruce, there about 4 of us that were concerned.
The rest of the guzzlers were on board.😁

Everything this management group does is under a microscope and will be over analyzed.

I see ownership and management are getting grief for not acknowledging Gino’s death appropriately. I agree somewhat. Calling a presser immediately after his death to address Pearson’s injury? Who gives a (frank)?

We talk all the time about ownership and management not listening to this fan base, but that tone-deaf presser goes to show how much this team is totally disconnected from its community.

JB had a long time to do some good mixed in with his many poison pills. Personally idc about the optics of off ice stuff. My optimism or lack of is on what happens next.

It all boils down to the lousy D corp & then team D & the horrific PK. It’s been a long time problem that seems to go nowhere fast & continues.

Defined the ‘fickle fan’. It goes as far back as the Barry Pederson trade for Neely. They whined loud & long & got what they wanted back then.

Ownership begins the real problem. Mgmt hasn’t had autonomy to do what hockey ppl wanted to do. TL is gone & that bag of shlt Weisbrod too much later. We can only cling to this regime cleaning house & starting what we all know has to happen. It’s broke & none of us know the true depths til it begins for real.

You are right, not much to celebrate. I didnt care as much pre cap era. I didnt care as much when this team was finishing high in the Sedin era. Since this run of finishing in the bottom half of the standing or bottom 10 for so many years, it frustrates me much more. Even more when a new group comes in, knows the situation/needs and makes a braindead pick in the first round right away.

That 2007 draft was particularly brutal. Not one single NHL game from six Canuck picks. That amazes me. Patrick White 25th overall? Really? That’s why I hate Nonis as a GM so much. By far, the worst Canuck GM of all time IMO.

(frank)! Now I’m depressed.

Rick Tocchet is 20 years older than Jeremy Colliton.

I have sort of a weird theory that defensemen and centers make much better NHL coaches than wingers and goalies.
