Major Sugery, I’m giving Rutherford some leash here as he still hasn’t overhauled the lineup much yet.
- neem55

Leash?

He is the one who took it from minor to major surgery.

From everything he said yesterday, he's going to put the surgery off until it's badly infected then consider his options.

I didn't like the never ending double talk. "Major Surgery" and "Retool" imo mean different things completely. One is cutting out the cancer, removing limbs, and transplanting hearts. The other is cleaning up your toolbox or shuffling deckchairs...

And the never ending idea that fans here don't want or can't handle a full rebuild. Do they ever even consider how many degrees (like 180) they are off on what fans actually want with this organization? This team could have, if done properly done how many complete down to the studs, or even better pour a whole new foundation, rebuilds?

It just seems as if every time there is a major thing that needs to happen, they get it wrong. Not just Rutherford but many of the previous GM's as well.

This team can still suck by keeping some of it's best players. 5 players don't make a team anymore. Maybe a decade ago but not anymore.

See what March 3rd brings, hope or more disappointment.

Yeah it's not like he's in that age group ... or a reclamation project ... oh wait.

I saw him on Seattle's powerplay the other day. Nucks must have been 'too busy' when he came around.

Him and Leschysyn, were both players I thought they should have at least tried. I guess they were concerned about having to waive Dries.

I thought so too. Van has a lot of wingers but really they don't.

Nedelijkovic, I remember many in here would have done it for what Yzerman paid.

I didn't get that at all, but we all know most deals wait till TDL when teams can maximize their cap, and others know their odds at playoffs.

Define "should have at least tried"

I believe you gave a real sarcastic response to claiming him on waivers.

Major deals should be made earlier. For tanking reasons for the Canucks but obviously you want the best offer and the price goes up as the need grows. Only so many teams willing to give up a first round pick, If I were the Canucks, I'd make sure to get one before they all go away.

Should have at least tried= put in a claim. Both players would have been Canucks due to waiver priority.

They don't really have the picks, prospects to do so.

Boston couldn't come close to that value needed to acquire those two.

Tolvanen I think deserved a shot. Jake, no that would have been a waste of a claim.

Prepare to be disappointed then.

They want nhl ready reclamation project= Frédéric
Prospect= Brett Harrison
2023 1st round pick, 2024 3rd round pick
Cap dump Mike Reilly/ Anton Strahlman

This is the types of deals I am expecting to see. Not saying this is what I want.

I don't know if Frederic is the reclamation project being talked about. More like Laffy, Kakko, Kratsov.

That would be an extremely disappointing return for Bo. I'd take that for Schenn

There was a chance to make some changes and he didn't at all.
