Tells me he tried to do the impossible & it only leaves 1 other option now.

Complete BS. 1) it was Burke who messed up the relationship with Bure. Offering him a contract secretly in CDN not USD.
2)Quinn didn't ruin the Gretzky signing, it has been admitted that he had a handshake deal in place and Gretzky wanted to wait until the next morning to sign the deal. Our then owner forced Quinn to call back and get it done right away, and Gretzky said "fvck you". He was then forced to get the next biggest name, which was Messier. get facts straight before smearing someones name.

If I recall correctly the call was like 3am.

Facts?
Smear?

Problems with Bure started way before Burke. Here's a glimpse:
https://www.latimes.com/a...02-17-sp-33171-story.html

The whole Gretzky thing was on Quinn regardless of what Stan McCammon wanted. It's the GM's job to make it work. Pat didn't make it work. Blaming ownership in Vancity has become so trendy.

Rest assured that while JR is out there talking to potential new coaches FA is out there talking to potential new management groups.

It's the Canuck way.

People forget that Quinn was a villain around these parts when he left. Just like Bure was when he left.

Now they are Canuck heroes. Time heals I guess.

"Quinn has indicated to some insiders he was led to believe Bure had threatened to withdraw his services by “my guy” but now says privately and publicly it never happened."

Still not Quinn who ruined the team. But Griffiths was known to do a lot of BS.

Unfortunately the Griffiths family really didn't have the money to run the Canucks like they need to.

No, that's a myth. Saying that, it doesn't matter what time the call was made. According to Gretzky, the call went like:

Quinn called Gretzky back and asked him to sign the papers that night.

Gretzky replied with: “I told you I’d sign them the morning.”

“Nope,” Quinn said. “I need to have it tonight.”

The whole deal blew up over that, Friedman explained.

Gretzky, we know, also considered joining the Toronto Maple Leafs that off-season, before finally signing with the New York Rangers, where he would play the final three seasons of his career.

“It was a difficult summer. At one point I thought I was going to be a Vancouver Canuck and it fell through the wayside,” Gretzky said on the same radio show in 2013. “Everything happens for a reason, and I ended up signing with the New York Rangers… and truly enjoyed it.”

Regardless what ownership wants, it's the GMs roll to make it work. The above conversation does not sound like Quinn was trying very hard to make it work.

Yup, then we could have a 10.5 Hub and 6m Weegar in all seriousness McAvoy probably would have been the best choice.

Quinn was guilty of doing the exact same poop as Nonis, Gillis, Benning, and JR/Alvin have been accused of doing. Only difference, Quinn is dead. We have a tendency to speak kindly of the dead. But if you were able to go back in history, you would see the same mudslinging towards Quinn as our more resent GMs have received.

It's like a broken record. That's why many long time fans are so frustrated. The problems never seem to get fixed with this franchise.
