Those two could bring enough assets for an immediate rebuild! EP40 would fetch a return on par with Jack Eichel.

Canucks are oh so close, a couple tweaks and this team should be contenders.

Better than Eichel. He isn't preparing to undergo an experimental surgery. He's also a better player and younger.

Didn't Rutherford say something near the beginning of the season like, it's not pressure right now, but if it is a month from the deadline, then there will be pressure, when talking about dealing with Horvat?

Did he have his nap before he said it?

As an old guy I am sort of the expert in this subject.

As a subject matter expert, is it OK if I have afternoon naps, even though I am still just a young fella?

Horvat throwing a little shade at the Canucks organization saying “at this point in my career it’s all about winning”….or something like that. He’s been in the league for eight and a half years and the only reason he’s sniffed the playoffs with the Canucks is because of the bubble thing. I don’t blame him, or anyone else, for wanting to leave the poop-show.

That’s completely false and untrue, although a good story for Benning supporters to make themselves feel better.

Gillis was terminated two years after winning the Presidents Trophy because he wanted to rebuild and Francesco Aquilini said no way. Then Benning and Linden come in and after a couple years Linden said they need to rebuild, again, Francesco Aquilini says no and fires Linden.

Benning’s hands were tied by the owner but he kept telling him he could be competitive, which turned out to be completely false, and here we are eight years after he was hired still at the bottom of the league. Francesco Aquilini is at the heart of all the current issues that plague the organization.

Are you kidding me? That was a nothing trade. The Canucks acquired a 26 year old David Booth, Steven Reinprecht & a 3rd round pick for a 34 year old Mikael Samuelsson & Marco Sturm who’s career ended that year. They gave up nothing, no picks and two old players for a young 26 year old player who had two 20+ goal seasons and a 30+ goal season.

The Ballard trade turned out to be bad, yes, but the Booth, Higgins, Lapierre, Ehrhoff and Schneider trades were all good. Like I said earlier, most of the Gillis trades were meaningless. Dale Weise for Raphael Diaz, as an example.

- LeftCoaster

It cost them that season in other ways. The team was struggling to score still after that trade and Gillis is on record telling media who were asking if he was going to acquire top 6 help at the TDL and his response was he already made his top 6 acquisition. So his flopped trade did hurt the team's success that season.

Cap space was and will always be a thing. If some GM offers me a player that's overpaid for free, doesn't mean I'm winning the trade. It means I'm taking an inefficient contract off of his hands without charge, or I'm actually paying him if I give him a draft pick for said player.

Weise for Diaz is a nothing trade because they could be dumped into the AHL easily.

Again you’re flexing into separate topics to fit your narratives. The trade in and of itself was a good trade. Unfortunately it didn’t work out, getting back to the Cup finals and Booths health.
- LeftCoaster

Ok everyone... just focus on the single thing that has Lefty thinking it was a good trade. Everything else that happened has nothing to do with the trade.
