Zone exits, zone puck retrievals, zone entries, what the player does when he enters the zone, forecheck pressures, D zone giveaways, one timers, passes that lead to one timers, defections, completed cross-ice passes, shots off rebounds, rebounds created, how much a player relies on cycling the puck vs of the rush, etc. Plus looking at usage/role and talent of linemates.

Who did this putting?

Um FA fired TL.
FA fired JB & TG.
FA hired BB then JR.
Then the POHO JR hired staff.

Bizarro be FA indeed

- Nighthawk

Makes you wonder if JR wanted to let Bruce walk last season and if FA overruled or if JR suggested it to FA and let FA have the ultimate call and he said Bring back the chants.

I'd rather let the team suffer with him for 2-3 more seasons and then hope to LTIR him by then.
- Nucker101

Wouldn't that make 15 years of suffering? Since 2012 playoffs.

Not alone. There’s a bunch of interesting stats now.

Haven’t look at corsi in years

Defensive play stats are still lacking though, hopefully that changes.

Eye test still matters.

Yup

Tochett may be a hard ass, but will he be a bigger hard ass than Torts?

A fourth coaching change is like having a bad transmission and you put on new tires to fix it.

Another enforcer that left early. Not sure if it is related or not.

Gillis drafted poorly, all be it from less than great draft positions, still, that’s more a function of the scouting department (under his direction) when you can’t mine a few players past the first round. He hardly set the franchise back ten years, he didn’t have time to do that. For most of his tenure he was competing for a Cup.

That’s like saying Stan Bowman set the Blackhawks back ten years simply because he didn’t draft well while winning three Cups. It’s nonsensical. Not many Stanley Cup competitive teams have great prospect pools, they’re trying to win the Cup.

- LeftCoaster

Some nice fiction just missing he inherited a good team never built it ground up. He certainly left nothing right on down to the farm. Said rebuild was needed but how dafuq when he did all those NTC’s etc? I call BS.

His trades were terrible as Bennings aside from the one he made with the cap strapped Sharks. Forget the Dmans name. I know you guys liked him but he was soft as sh1t.

All his other trades stunks. You guys really forget the chants at the arena "Fire Gillis"?

I don't care about a 2-mil cap hit 4 years from now TBH. We should be drafting a first round Dman this year so hopefully he will be ready in four years. Myers comes off the books the year after next so there is another six-mil cap relief.

I guess we come from different angles on this but I would glady takes OEL 7 mil next year and five the year after and worry about three years down the road in three years.

- VANTEL

For all the reasons you stated... getting myers off books.... room for young D man... which we don't have.... the first round possible D pick... ready in 3 to 4 years....

Both those reasons are why I wouldn't. No point. But in 3 to 4 years he is done and maybe we are ready to compete and that buyout might actually effect us.

punting the cap down the road to worry about later is real short term thinking which isn't even gonna help us now.

Well Burrows/Kesler/Hansen/Bieksa/Garrison all waived so there NTC's were a hindrance starting a bidding war but they did waive and have trade value. Sedins/Edler were the true NTC's that actually wouldn't be moved.

Hamhuis is questionable, didn't Hawks or Stars try to get him for like a 3rd or 4th and Benning said no because he wanted to send a message that he wasn't going to get ripped off?

All I can go off of is what's being reported and just using my own logic even without the reports. Especially after witnessing the moves after he left.

I think I would rather watch Gudas and Trev Van Riemsdyk at a combined five mil for the next four than watching OEL withering away.
