Oh Horvat.

Blowing the zone, giveaway behind he couldn’t recover.

Trying to pad those goal stats for his next contract.

To be fair, that was a horrible pass, or clearing attempt, or whatever it was off Millers stick

You really think they'll buyout OEL? I don't
- Nucker101

IF they do just another example of short term thinking that hurts long term.

Nucker weren't you one of the guys that wanted Booth really badly long before we ever acquired him?
- golfingsince

Yes. I was also a teenage kid who made all his hockey evaluations by sorting the corsi relative % stat

Time flies

I wonder if sports betting sites are owned by organized crime, in a round about “legal” way. Sort of like No2 owning major shares in Starbucks while Dr Evil was frozen in space.

It’s all shady when offshore avoiding gaming laws in countries.

I don't see it that way. Next year is pretty well cap free. The following two years are 4 mil. which is still a profit of 3 mil and getting rid of a player that is contributing way below his salary.

Minny has huge cap hits next year and the one after times two. They seem to be doing fine.

Need to get rid of players that are not playing up to their salary and stay away from long term contracts until they figure out who really fits.

He was looking for goal #31 but Miller also (frank)ed up by assuming Bo didn’t leave the zone without looking

Trade value + losing > wins

Good for Bo

- Nucker101

You and The Vinter are right, Miller was the initial buffoon.

Not alone. There’s a bunch of interesting stats now.

Zone exits, zone puck retrievals, zone entries, what the player does when he enters the zone, forecheck pressures, D zone giveaways, one timers, passes that lead to one timers, defections, completed cross-ice passes, shots off rebounds, rebounds created, how much a player relies on cycling the puck vs of the rush, etc. Plus looking at usage/role and talent of linemates.

Haven’t look at corsi in years

Defensive play stats are still lacking though, hopefully that changes.

Eye test still matters.

I’ve had a job for years, post career, managing all the things my wife and our kids need help with. It’s a thankless job with no pay but it’s what I signed up for so I soldier on.

Only reason they are is young talent to step in on ELC... we don't have that. IF we had someone on D who could replace him at 3 mill or less for the next 8 years lol
The Cap hit if we did it in off season would be. That is many years of pain from that buy out. May as well keep him as long as 26/27 when hopefully with the right moves we are ready to compete. We should be rebuilding either way... why make it longer.
23/24 $146,667
24/25 $2,346,667
25/26 $4,766,667
26/27 $4,766,667
27/28 $2,126,667
28/29 $2,126,667
29/30 $2,126,667
30/31 $2,126,667

Fingers crossed for LTIR

No it won't. One of the 650 radio guys texted all the insiders who do interviews with the station and they all said that they've heard that the Canucks are still not interested in a rebuild. They're accepting defeat on this season but next season is still about winning asap
- Nucker101

Ppl hung up on the term rebuild. Sounds like give up start over. I call it a reset like a breaker. It isn’t broken just not working. Saves more face

I agree with the bold.

not sure why you're assuming I mean Hughes/Zegras types when I say high IQ? Weird to even go out of your to even mention those players

Alex Burrows for example is one of the smartest forwards I've seen play for the Canucks. Pod doesn't think the game like he does, and that's okay.

I don't care about a 2-mil cap hit 4 years from now TBH. We should be drafting a first round Dman this year so hopefully he will be ready in four years. Myers comes off the books the year after next so there is another six-mil cap relief.

I guess we come from different angles on this but I would glady takes OEL 7 mil next year and five the year after and worry about three years down the road in three years.

Either your blinded by hate or just actually blind. Dude wasn't that fast, didn't have a dangerous shot, wasn't that big/strong but yet was the best Sedin linemate and even played well when he was with Kesler. Very good on the PK too.

I wonder how he accomplished all that?

I'd rather let the team suffer with him for 2-3 more seasons and then hope to LTIR him by then.

A new coach with better structure will fix everything.
- 1970vintage

But it has to be exciting. Contrary to what some fans say they’d find something to whine about. Saying right now nobody will like Jacque Lemaire type hockey.

I don't think that type of hockey exists in the NHL anymore. Look at the teams with the lowest GAA

Bruins
Devils
Leafs
Jets
Stars

They don't play Lemaire hockey, they do play structured hockey but it's not sit back and clog up the neutral zone after going up 1-0

Canucks played the Jets recently, they were still sending 2, something even 3 forwards in on the forecheck when they were leading

Yup. Buying him out now or next season would be shortsighted and/or stupid.

I think he was alluding to Tocchet's TV contract that forces him to give 4 weeks notice so that they can hire someone to replace him and not get left shorthanded.

If they fire Bruce now they'll have to name an interim coach for a few weeks but I guess they don't want to do that. Not sure why they can't just make Yeo the interim guy, or maybe Yeo is getting canned too and Toccchet is going to bring along his own right hand guy?

Who knows.

But this has all been a clown show. Bruce was put in a tough spot before this season even started, really bizarre way of handling things.

- Nucker101

Who did this putting?

Um FA fired TL.
FA fired JB & TG.
FA hired BB then JR.
Then the POHO JR hired staff.

Bizarro be FA indeed even Bozo
