Good player doesn't always = good coach even if it's a fan fave who got the most out of his talent

You still need to be a good communicator, need to manage personalities, develop a full system, etc.

- Nucker101

Sure but we have two former 2011 Canucks in the coaching ranks who seem to be doing a good job. So why not give them a chance here instead?

Yes. I believe it is lost on you because we were talking about Mike Gillis trades and you’ve somehow flexed it into Pearsons production vs Higgins production. Evan Oberg for Chris Higgins - vs - McCann (first round pick) & the 33rd overall pick (second round) for Gudbranson and then Gudbranson for Tanner Pearson straight up is largely why Jim Benning set the franchise back ten years and Mike Gillis didn’t/

The Ballard trade was on par with McCann and a first
Hodgson for Kassian was a bust
Two 4 th round picks (josh anderson) for Pahlsson
Andrew Alberts for a third
Mathew Schnieder for Alex Friesen
Kevin Connauton and a second for Roy

There were more but this should give you a good idea he was no trade genius.

I think Burrows loves where he is now. As much as he loved the Canucks he loved the Habs as much so let him be.

I would love to see what he would bring as a fan but now is not the time for another first-time project.

If this team is not contending then what’s the harm? All these other coaches are trying to win now and not teach how to win well.

So why not bring in a young coach with roots to this city and club?

Willie D was a highly sought-after first-time coach. So was Travis Green.

I think Pods and Hogs are fine.

I wouldn't know what muddy underwear is like, I guess that is a fisherman's thing.

I thought he played well down the stretch last year and to start this year but he needs to learn to not get down on himself so fast when he goes through a slump. But I agree that big minutes in the AHL is probably best for him and Hog right now
- Nucker101

Once they trade some forwards out they should be ready to step back in.

It’s surprising how healthy the team has been or maybe it’s a sign of selfish play?

Are you kidding me? That was a nothing trade. The Canucks acquired a 26 year old David Booth, Steven Reinprecht & a 3rd round pick for a 34 year old Mikael Samuelsson & Marco Sturm who’s career ended that year. They gave up nothing, no picks and two old players for a young 26 year old player who had two 20+ goal seasons and a 30+ goal season.

The Ballard trade turned out to be bad, yes, but the Booth, Higgins, Lapierre, Ehrhoff and Schneider trades were all good. Like I said earlier, most of the Gillis trades were meaningless. Dale Weise for Raphael Diaz, as an example.

Cap space was and will always be a thing. If some GM offers me a player that's overpaid for free, doesn't mean I'm winning the trade. It means I'm taking an inefficient contract off of his hands without charge, or I'm actually paying him if I give him a draft pick for said player.

Weise for Diaz is a nothing trade because they could be dumped into the AHL easily.

Using one of your compliance buyouts is nothing? The second one was for Ballard for the record. Should have been used on Luongo.

For the record Canucks also bought out Chris Higgins in 2016

It’s amazing how much focus about not caring to watch Canucks games is posted here. Like because they’re bad it’s cool not too. Then most of those same people want a tear down. So how many more years will they continue to not watch? No one said they will watch plugs while the rebuild takes its years to form. Then you wonder why the team keeps on trying to win lol.

You’re trying to make another trip to the Cup, you just acquired a young scoring physical winger and your biggest concern is the cap space. Your window is open. You’re a fool if you don’t make that trade.

It’s unfortunate the hit he took from Mike Richards changed him though, he was never the same.

Again you’re flexing into separate topics to fit your narratives. The trade in and of itself was a good trade. Unfortunately it didn’t work out, getting back to the Cup finals and Booths health.

He scored goals, who cares where he was living. Florida didn’t want to pay him with their 2500 fan base. Didn’t cost anything for the Canucks to acquire him. Two million in cap space.
