Boeser benching is going to attract attention on HNIC, not for the right reasons.

Eklund now reporting, Demko out 6 weeks, trade coming.

Being a GM is clearly a very hard job. JB missteps just kept the team from moving forward. For every step he took forward, he did something to set it back 2 steps.

This new regime seems to have the exact same plan, 1 step forward, 2 steps back.

Can't argue with any of this, it's mind boggling that it keeps on continuing.

Cap situation would be better.
- VanHockeyGuy

Doesn't matter, the clowns they have had running this team, would have spent it to the max.

Unfortunately

Pathetic, man things wouldn't have been that bad if JB never made that deal.
- VanHockeyGuy

Ten and a half seasons ago the Canucks just won their second straight Presidents Trophy, the most coveted trophy in the National Hockey League, and yet here we are two General Managers later and dealing with the same old BS. It comes down to the owner and unless people revolt and stop supporting him you’re not gonna see anything change. F**k the Aquilini’s!!

That defense would scare no one... but it would be at least 20 mil cheaper than the one we have now!

I agree 1000% but these idiot fans aren't going to revolt, so the only thing I'm expecting is this management to trade away a 1st to try and fix this sinking ship ba of course it wont work.

The problem is that the people that FA wants buying the tickets, merchandise and what have you are the ones that are rich and want to be seen and feel like they're a part of something cool and hip and trendy and have tons of money to burn. They don't care about the long term future of the Canucks because as long as they can be seen in the lower decks wearing their Canuck's merch with their friends/other social media influencers on social media, they're happy, that's the sad part. The so-called "real fans" are the ones most invested in the team but aren't the ones giving FA the money (or withholding it) to make him change his business plan/long term strategy.

I’m not sure I buy this because the team has sucked anyway outside of year one Benning and the bubble season. So anyone who’s been buying lower bowl tickets and overpriced store merchandise during every other season clearly doesn’t care about short term results either so if anything those people give ownership even more incentive to rebuild.

Canucks are the only big game in town, if anything it’s safer for them to rebuild than it is for some American team playing in the same city as NFL/MLB/NBA teams. Sportsnet 650 hosts spend 90% of the time talking about the Canucks, 7% for food and 3% about other sports.

I have nothing against the BC Lions but when they’re your biggest competitor and don’t even overlap schedules with yours for a good chunk of your season, they’re nothing but a fly on the windshield.

Yet the team continually makes money despite being so mediocre year after year, you'd think eventually that wouldn't be the case since ticket prices are going up literally year after year. Having no competition is dangerous because that just de-incentivizes ownership to mess with a cash cow. If you're FA and people are going to keep paying to see the team in the stands and pay for all the merch they put out, and there's no other team in the area that can compete for those same dollars, why should he want to rebuild or change his strategy?

I know I rag on FA for his business practices because a family friend used to work for him at Golden Eagle and he fired him and the rest of the staff on a whim because the golf course wasn't profitable for a few years, but when he's making millions off of the team and the team is gaining value with each and every year, why would he change?

I think it’s a lazy business strategy, not a smart one at all. if I ran a successful business that was guaranteed to be profitable, but had clear room for growth with a ceiling that I’ve seen hit before, I’d take the necessary steps to get back to that ceiling.

Look at that Forbes report, every other Canadian team’s franchise value went up by a higher % than the Canucks. I know some of that is due to off ice things like non-hockey revenue and assets owned but still it’s telling.

The Aquilini family deserves credit for buying the team because it was a guaranteed profitable investment but Francesco hasn’t done poop in years to improve the team’s value, it’s only gone up by default(inflation)

Dubas doesn’t trade his OHL boys. There’s a reason why he traded for Murray and Timmins. They were his OHL players. That’s why he signed Bunting too(good move).
