Looks like Mikheyev will be placed on a line, more suitable to his talent and OEL should be sitting.
I guess Bo has finally got Boeser playing to a level that Pouty is okay accepting him on his line.

- Reubenkincade

Or maybe it's just Pouty wants Boeser gone so bad he's willing to drag him along on his line to boost his tradeability

General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that F Tanner Pearson underwent a second hand surgery yesterday after a setback in his recovery, and he will miss the remainder of the 2022.23 season.

Perfect timing. Now they can pick up a player for the playoff push.

Maybe a 1st and Rathbone for Engvall?

Yeah Tampa gearing up for their annual 2nd half flick the switch. Nice juicy opponent in Van to really feast on.

Spencer Martin gotta be getting tired too. You can see it. It's nice they found a very capable backup but he's hardly played in NHL before let alone been handed the reigns. The fact that they didn't sign or trade for someone with experience when TD went down should probably have told us they gave up on season already. Same reason for keeping BB, FA probably didn't want to pay another coach if season was lost. I hold out hope they see what we see and it just is really hard to make trades these days during first stretch of the year ... just nothing happening anywhere. Add to the fact they're dealing from an immense point of weakness - when the dominos do fall look for the returns to be incredibly underwhelming compared to the deals thrown around here. I think we'll have to dig deep for the positive as they're finally doing something, not look too much into the returns and just hope they get a couple picks .... and don't retain or take on too much salary. Apathy.

Kuzmenko - EP - Mikheyev has been one of the top lines in the league this year, and easily the Canucks best line, why does he always break it up?
- Retinalz

Because the rest of the team is horrible. Look at the plus minus. Kuz, Petey, Mik can't outscore for 3 other deficient lines ... evidently ... and unfortunately. It is a fun line to watch!

It's a sad fact in Canucks land, that 2(Bo & Kuzmenko) of the team best 3 players are UFA's and they can't afford to re-sign them.

Was the setback Pearson smashing his hand with a hammer. Better option than playing on this team.

If you are the Oilers, do you do Campbell and your next 4 first round picks for Chychrun and Vejmelka? Noting that there will need to be some salary retention or something to make it work.

That is interesting, but would like to have more than just the points scored, while at full and even strength, like what rate are they being scored upon, while at full and even strength?

I remember hearing in here, that Bo wasn't good at getting points in these situations, yet here he sits in the top 15, go figure.

- Reubenkincade

I just saw that and thought it interesting, keep in mind, it's "5-on-5 points rate"....I'm not sure how that's calculated even after looking it up.

Ya, not a big fan of that stat. If I am not mistaken, Garland was the greatest ever full and even strength player, last season.

Although you could be scoring a lot, at full & even strength, you could also be getting crushed defensively, in that same scenario.

I know you know that, but just pointing it out, for those who only look at a single stat, without any context.

Is it Vasy or Elliot tonight? I’m thinking 2-1 Canucks with a gutsy effort, keeping the trade winds at bay.

The room is very tight, they're playing for each other and Bruce.

It’s funny, peculiar, that throughout the Canucks history it’s been a trouble spot from a standpoint of drafting and developing their own dmen. Like it currently is. Successful teams, without looking, I would assume draft their own top defensemen and then fill-in with free agency and trades.

I know not first round picks but in 2011 the Canucks drafted Edler and Bieksa, then filled in the rest via trades and free agency. 2010 the Blackhawks had drafted Keith, Seabrook, Hjalmarsson and Byfuglien. In 2012 Los Angeles Kings had drafted Doughty, Voynov & Martinez.

I think drafting and developing your own defensemen is all-important to having success but you can fill in with free agency and trades once you’ve got your core guys.

Speaking of this, one of the insiders mentioned that several owners are pushing for a bigger cap, as they are losing too many players, due to not being able to re-sign them.
- Reubenkincade

That won't help them they will just pay players more lol
