One moment he was alive, the next he wasn’t, so yeah, just like everybody else.

Don't focus on the death or the way he died. Celebrate the life. Excellent guitarist who influenced many lived a full life. RIP.

LOL….that’s just pathetic. Like the organization, so not really surprising. New Jersey has taken four dmen in the first round in the past five drafts.

2022 - defenceman Simon Nemec 2nd overall.
2021 - defenceman Luke Hughes 4th overall.
2020 - defenceman Shakir Mukhamadullin 20th overall.
2019 - center Jack Hughes 1st overall.
2018 - defenceman Ty Smyth 17th overall.

I would guess that most teams would have a similar amount of defensemen taken, in that timeframe

It’s funny, peculiar, that throughout the Canucks history it’s been a trouble spot from a standpoint of drafting and developing their own dmen. Like it currently is. Successful teams, without looking, I would assume draft their own top defensemen and then fill-in with free agency and trades.

I know not first round picks but in 2011 the Canucks drafted Edler and Bieksa, then filled in the rest via trades and free agency. 2010 the Blackhawks had drafted Keith, Seabrook, Hjalmarsson and Byfuglien. In 2012 Los Angeles Kings had drafted Doughty, Voynov & Martinez.

I think drafting and developing your own defensemen is all-important to having success but you can fill in with free agency and trades once you’ve got your core guys.

I agree, you need to draft at least 2 of your top 4 defensemen. Hard to do when the team has a very long history of trading 1sts and or 2nds regularly.

That’s literally the first four I looked at and I didn’t have to look back far. 30 years and 7 defencemen is pathetic. Full stop.
You can add Pittsburgh, Boston and Carolina. That’s more than enough examples or how lacking Canucks have been in drafting D.

I don’t think you’ll find “a lot” of teams who taken more but I’d suspect you’ll find teams with a lot more games played from their drafted defensemen.

Tampa Bay….looked here first. Never heard these guys lol! Just first round. Nine in total.

2017 Cal Foote 14th overall.
2014 Tony DeAngelo 19th overall.
2012 Slater Koekkoek 10th overall.
2009 Victor Hedman 2nd overall.
2005 Vladimir Mihalik 30th overall.
2004 Andy Rogers 30th overall.
1997 Paul Mara 7th overall.
1996 Mario Larocque 16th overall.
1992 Roman Hamrlik 1st overall.

That’s 8 teams, literally no teams I’ve looked at have drafted less yet. So I’m leaning toward a lot.

Detroit has 11 first round picks in the past thirty years. Colorado/Quebec has 9. I think it’s more about quality than quantity.

Oh I was a fan of a lot of these musicians in my youth until i woke up, I certainly respect John Lennon for his views and movement that got him murdered and yes he was murdered by the same organization trying to kill us. I remember seeing an interview him saying the world is run by phycopaths that create wars and don’t care about human life and I think he left the Beatles because he wouldn’t sell his soul. He was a threat with his following and it was building.

I stand by my original comment. A life well lived and an influence to many guitarists. RIP Jeff Beck.

CTV reporter collapses on air, another basket ball player went down, 18 year old female MMA star gone. What's alarming is the normalization of it all. That's the scary part. Folks know there is something wrong and don't want to address it. Nothing to see. There is another term for it now 'Medical Coincidence'. Unreal.

Some good defensemen going to be available in the late 1st, well into the 2nd round.

More picks please Patrik.
