I would say you probably overrate Bo then.

Carolina, New Jersey, Minnesota, LA, Seattle, Calgary, Edmonton (if they don't split up mcDavid and Drais), Colorado (technically in playoffs but not)

- manvanfan

Bo upgrades Carolina's 2c hands down, it isn't even close.

NJD Hughes is terrible at face offs.

Bo is a clear upgrade on Hartmann,

I would take Bo over Danault easily.

Really..Seattle?

Bo is definitely a clear upgrade for EDM. Sure he isn't better than Drai by any means, but they are a much better and will go further with Drai as the 1RW and Bo as the 2C.

Again, Bo is a clear upgrade for Colorado, they clearly miss Kadri.

Bo is an upgrade at 2c for pretty much every team in the league except for Pitts, TBL... I can't think of any others at this time.

They would have all summer to sort out a cap situation for the following year, but for this years playoffs most teams don’t like to disrupt their mix too much.
- 1970vintage

Good point. It’s my thought as well but never said it. Patience while GM’s decide their next moves as the TDL nears.

Not with Vancouver after 2 offers that he didn't like.
- manvanfan

TBH I have no confidence JR can capitalize in a trade involving Horvat.

Alright, I apologize. I took "name them" from you differently but did you not look at the list and think.

You didn't think of the other teams and say alright he gave me the list of teams that he would be an upgrade over.

I gave you teams that I thought Bo would be an upgrade on. (clarifying)

I think they need to act like they haven't been in a rebuild or retool the last 8 years. They need to draw line in the sand this TDL and say rebuild starts now. Go full Coyotes and trade everything worth a damn and stock picks ... and do that for like 2-3 years.

Unfortunately I don't see it in this market or with this management. It would take ignoring fan base, owners, sponsors, half empty buildings. Like JR would literally have to accept he may be passed away before the team is any good.

- Sayros

That’s a teardown we’ll never see. I do think at least 3-4 players traded by the TDL then buyouts this offseason would be a substantial rebuild as a minimum.

think our TDL will be Bo, Kuzmenko and Schenn traded. we will get 2 2023 1sts and a 2nd plus added pieces for Bo and Kuzmenko. MAYBE Bear gets traded, but I would wager they look to keep him.

Half the current playoffs teams Bo wouldn't be a clear upgrade at 2lc for them.

It's also teams that will get guys back off LTIR before seasons end that they will still need room for.

Mostly depends on what the Canucks are still willing to take back. They have never intentionally taken back a bad contract in a trade.

- manvanfan

That is what will make this a prolonged trade process. Too far away from the PO’s & the teams we would most likely trade Bo to are still in a holding pattern. Doesn’t really matter that JR likes to pull the trigger early & also why fans rail on him for patience. He won’t force a big trade for the sake of a trade. The tighter flat cap last year & this make him look bad. All we have as fans is too wait & hope the right team(s) either get antsy or take the plunge closer to the TDL when the PO race gets hot.

I'd rather see Stillman play over Dermott.

Dermott's game is just lifeless. He has 1 shot in 5 games. They paid a 3rd rounder and I'd be happy with a 6th or 7th.

Agree. But if we want to have a chance in this new age, it's what they need to do ... especially with their draft history. They need many more swings and then to hit on a couple deeps like a Joshua Roy. Not saying the kid is can't miss, but we need to see some years where World Juniors is an exciting time for Canucks fans.

The rental market isn’t good at this time. Those deals are more the few days leading up to the TDL. It’s also good why not letting Bo’s agent negotiate a sign & trade is premature. Let the market heat up in this buyers market til it becomes more a sellers market. Then if there is no hope resigning Bo it gets real he is 100% gone. Don’t wanna be fully behind the 8 ball dealing from the weakest position. Let GM’s build their own bidding war I don’by see another option. Hope is all we got.

Wings would be a perfect fit but is Stevie Y ready for the next level or will keep building? They don’t have a top 6 C prospect & need to resign Larkin.

Either way, I listed 8 teams out of 17 that he would be an upgrade over. Half. For depth reason's, he could be added to other teams as a center but with cap space, it would be unlikely.

I’d guess 2-1sts & maybe a 2nd & 1 good prospect for need & 1 other with upside. More than that is highly optimistic for even me lol

If the plan is for multiple trades it only frees up so much cap. Then a buyout or 2 adds more. The D would not change much & still be hamstrung tying up cap space. Too much is allocated on D & Wing to make this roster sensible. The value isn’t close to being there. Keeping Kuz is best if Garland is moved. Boeser is an offseason trade when teams have more cap.

Once BB is gone we should get a better picture of who is held back or truly underperforming or simply a placeholder. That reason alone is why I think BB is gone maybe at least 3-4 weeks before the TDL.

Agree but idk if FA & JR are interested in a 5+ yr plan. Our biggest issue is ridding the roster of players not helping long term. The pipeline isn’t loaded with elite talent but not too long til some need an audition but are blocked now & in the next few years. We lack the support players for the core who play consistent. The D is well we all know it sucks.

What’s the point in firing the coach if the guy who’s taking over is Mike Yeo, or Jeremy Colliton? Unless you are upgrading the position wait until the off season.

A 2 year plan will take us to 55 years of futility. They can call it Freedom 55.

First things first let's address the D and get Demko back healthy and playing well. I heard something yesterday about buyouts as well anything on that front?

The point was stated. Remove BB & see if a diff coach with his own system gets more outta the roster. TG seemed to hit n miss on this. Not saying I liked Green lol. Never said Yeo or Colliton. Leave Colliton in Abby where he is doing a wonderful job. He could be a future coach. Get a placeholder if needed that will do things differently.

Stick to lines & give them a sizeable body of time together. The blender isn’t working during TG’s & BB’s runs. It’s ran it’s course. Try & stick with Hughes as RSD D. Without a big shake up that isn’t happening for a few weeks or longer something different is needed.

It’s most important to find a way to up value on players asap. A fresh face & bump might do it.

Idk if it matters but anything is worth a try for this roller coaster of a disaster.

Of course the D but how? In season is a humongous challenge & unrealistic. The options are nada. Myers is buyout proof. OEL won’t be bought out yet. Other than Hughes we’re flush with 5-7 D’s. Nothing in the system will change that.

1. Canucks — Outside their division, they’re a putrid 7-16-3, a 53-point pace that would put them in the running for dead last most years. But in the Pacific, they’re actually 10-3-0, which … what? They’ve padded the record a bit with three wins over the Sharks, but they’ve beaten everyone at least once, and are 2-0-0 against the playoff-bound Kraken.

To be fair, he's coming off of a serious concussion and playing his first hockey in a long time. And this is coming from someone who disliked that trade from the minute is was made and still does.

Really surprised they didn't give him an extended conditioning stint in the AHL
