No. McDonagh can still play the hockey.

OEL plays at a similar level to McDonagh

I understand how hard it is to build the best of the best, but I would really appreciate seeing good consistent hockey.

Work hard, score goals, play physical, and entertain.

I would be happy with just the bolded.

Last time I saw Nashville play for 2 periods about a week ago. I didn't see much from him.

Sure

Would be nice to no longer have all of our hopes pinned on Lekkermaki and have our best dman prospect not be a guy that Minnesota didn't bother to sign

- Nucker101

No hope is the reality. The last picks that hope was given to are Petey and QH plus Demko. Now that is being flushed out.

Either way, all I want is a real long term plan and team that's harder to play against, if it takes a couple of years of losing to get there, then so be it. Tired of the shortcuts that only delay in inevitable. Just rip off the bandaid

Fair, haven’t watched a Nashville game in a while.

I guess you could trade OEL for future considerations, or an expiring contract IF you retained about $3m.

There’s probably a team who’s would take him at $4m for 4 more years.

When your top 5 line in the league is fun to play against, ya, it is time to tear it all down.

I would be trying to do the same thing as you're suggesting, but it seems to me like management has no desire to try and offload his contract.

Just in case you are wondering, the most salary the Canucks could retain on OEL is 3.135, as Arizona currently has 990k retained.

Isn’t it 50% of remaining value? Of is the max allowed 50% of the total contract combined?

Anyway, that number gets them to about $4m per year.

Canucks fan can't handle rebuilds.

The last true rebuild this team had we drafted the Sedins, I don't think our current owner was even a hockey fan back then.

Canucks management are full of sh1t. I know most hated the last group here, but I think this new group is even a bigger clown show.
- VANTEL

I agree. Why would it take them over a year to figure out this team needs major changes instead of tweaks to hopefully get into the playoffs. If they are that unaware of why Benning got fired and need a year plus to realize this themselves, they are incompetent.

Instead their approach reads like this... "maybe Benning didnt do such a bad job, let's not (frank) up what he built and try to keep on track".

Well Rutherford,,,,

I just looked at CF. I don’t think he’s tradable for two more years. He’s owed $10.5m in real salary next year and $8 the year after with no bonus money you could absorb. Salary drops to the $5 range the final two seasons. He’s here until they end unless they buy him out.
