They haven't done it before, so I wouldn't count on that.

Yeah, people don't realize how rare that is.

Ah, worse that Anderson throwing his Silver Medal into the crowd?

Exactly, trade our positive value assets in Horvat, Schenn, Miller (yes he has positive value since he produces), Kuzmenko only if he still insists on not signing until UFA. Boeser hopefully we can offload for futures like Patches (I thought he could get at least a 2nd, but not anymore, though I doubt he costs us to trade. He is still a legit top 6 guy). That gives us a little over 20m in cap space next season. Weaponize that by taking on a few bad contracts, use those contracts to plug the holes left by trades and suck for another year. Let assets develop and then look to start improving at the NHL level.
- Retinalz

Going along with that burning a season or 2 isn’t the end of the world. More of a reset buying some time & changing the culture & roster design. This is a pivotal TDL & offseason no matter how it gets sliced.

We'll see.

The only young RHD with legit top 4 potential they'll get is a player who is currently a non-full time NHL'er and by all accounts they prefer NHL-ready players.

Or they'll get reclamation projects

- Nucker101

It sucks watching the World Juniors every year and the Canucks don't have a top notch defenseman or centre playing.

RHD like Iorio from the caps are close to NHL ready, if they are really desperate, trade a 6th rounder for Merkley and plug him in, his failure will give us better draft position.

I don't think he's captain material. Bruce even says that he's one of the quietest guys on the team, even on the ice.

But then again, I also think it's dumbs that most teams/fans always defer to their best player when naming a captain.

- Nucker101

Fans are dumb that way & know squat what a captain should be. Not a popularity contest or about stats.

Iorio would be a nice addition. Was hoping they were going after him last TDL for Miller.

Either Management thinks a retool means they have to bridge gaps and get players ready to step in and hopefully put it together, or fans merely think that is what it means. One of those is the truth.

Hopefully Mangements idea of a retool is a "reset" as you say where we will make some big trades and get assets, suck for this season and next and then start using acquired assets to plug holes, either by earning a spot on the roster or being traded. Imagine getting Bedard or Fantili this year (not likely but imagine) and then next year having a stud RHD at the top of the draft and getting him. Acquiring a couple more RHD and one of them developing properly. Suddenly we are a team that will improve every year like Colorado did. If they didnt suck for a season and get Makar, would they have won that cup? I'd wager no, no they don't.

I think Horvat will get the trade management wants, and others will get the trades we want. Get a solid 20ish year old RHD and a 1st + with Horvat, get a bunch of picks with the rest. After picks have a # beside it, decide which ones can get us NHLers. Don't need to draft with every pick you get, but whenever a player is available at the draft, you can always get them with said picks.
- Retinalz

That's nice.

Problem with that is management isn't interested in futures, they want to drop a few 20ish players in the lineup and compete for a cup. Rutherford will be long gone before and IF any of those said draft picks every play an NHL game.

And that is FA's fault. Not JR's. FA has no patience for a set back, unless the setback only occurs while we are trying to force the team to compete. Then he has 8 years of patience...

It doesn't matter who's fault it is, that's the plan. This management group is a carryover from the Benning regime, just not as comical.

IIHF rules differ from the 'grey' areas of NHL officiating and rules. They actually got the call right.

You seem to think that it is Management that is setting the terms for the team. FA is the one wanting quick fixes and is either A) Hiring Management that will do as he wants or B) Hired the best president he could and told him this is what he has to do. We all know that GM's are not lining up to work for FA, JR pretty much only had first time GM's as his options to hire.

Projecting this draft we can get a C that is possibly a 2C down the road. We could say eff it & pick the best D. Just don’t see a winger getting picked. 2nd round on more D like all think & say. In the end trades are 1st to begin any reset to make this roster shake up a go. Has to happen.

At the end of the day they're selling 18K seats a game and don't give a flying fuck what the market says. To me, apathy allows me to entertained how this team is viewed nationally.

In the 10-30 range there are several RHD with potential. If we sell on multiple players are could end up with a top 5 pick. top 5 this year has 4 1st line potential C's with 2 being franchise altering and a franchise altering winger(who is 4 years away due to contract in KHL) we could easily get 2-3 extra 1sts this year of we make the most out of our trades. This one draft could define our franchise for the next 10-15 years.

FA needs to realize that if they come out and say they will be doing a reset, they will still sell out 18k seats a night and he isn't getting playoff revenue no matter what...

Not many D worth top 15. Get more picks is a maybe then last 10 picks is where I place value on D.

No doubt, FA/JR have almost 2 months.

I hate to say this but I do hope they fail miserably when and if they make any significant move. No team is helping these clowns out.
