He is in for a rude awakening when he becomes a UFA. He will get less than the Canucks offered

Respectfully disagree, Elias Pettersson has 95 points in the Canucks past 80 games, the majority of them at even strength, he’s also +13. Horvat’s been good, but EP40 has been the teams best player and he’s only just turned 24 years old. He now plays center full-time, he quarterbacks the PP on the half-wall, he kills penalties, he’s their best player 5v5.

Horvat has 80 points in his last 80 games played, just so you know, and he’s +7 over that timeframe. He’s been really good, but Pettersson’s been better and he’s a better all-around player…now!

Semantics really, those two have been the teams best skaters and they’re both really good players.

Your boy completely disappears for games at a time, but sure put him on a pedestal surrounded by flaming turds.

I wish the Canucks could learn from Stevie Y. Puts his top scorer on waivers because he doesn’t give a (frank) about feelings and wants to clear his contract. Alpha GM

2 More years of Rutherford unless he retires sooner, then we spin the wheel again.

An ALL IN move if there ever was one. They are tight when it comes to giving up assets.
- Nighthawk

They dominate puck possession but lack a high end finisher(relying on Pacioretty coming off long term injury isn’t ideal). Bo would light it up there. But yeah it’s not their MO to go big game hunting for a potential rental.

He was in Player Assistance Program. Probably an MTA due to that. The fact that he cleared shows something like this is the reason.
- Retinalz

Yes, but if he was a Canuck he would have been put in the ring of honour and coddled

Saravelli suggesting Caps and Bruins.

I don’t want Lys0l or Beecher as centrepieces of deals for a player as good as Horvat so no to Boston

- Nucker101

Agree. Beecher is a bust

I remember being totally fine with that deal
- Nucker101

For a late first round pick the Miller deal was a win... Would have been more of a win if they traded him after his contract year career season like they need to do with Horvat.

Hopefully the Canucks can get at least 1 of those 1st round picks. I am somewhat doubtful that this group is looking at picks though.
- Reubenkincade

I think their 1st will be one of those moved out.

Elliotte Friedman on Bo Horvat : I am not saying no but the Canucks have set a limit, Horvat is going to have to take a haircut on what he could get on market.
It is going to take an unbelievable offer from VAN and I do not see it.

That’s true of every player in the league, you just don’t have your best stuff every night or you don’t get the bounces, whatever. It’s unrealistic for even the greatest of the great like McDavid to dominate every game. Hockeys a team game.

They have Brock Nelson then JGP. They need scoring wingers.
- Nighthawk

JGP and his 23 points in 39 games is definitely better than Bo.

Bo and his 28 goals alone.

And possibly why they will never win anything. They have no 2c and not a single prospect that can become it. Lost Trochek for nothing. Need to fill the holes on the team, and theirs is a 2c.

Although a very good player over the past year and a half, Horvat’s not a play driver, which is important for a center who wants to be paid big bucks. He may end up getting a great contract offer, from a lesser team who struggles to attract talent, but he’s not an 8-10 million dollar player in my opinion. Trading him is the best and only good option for the Canucks.

BS Bergeron never takes a night off. That’s a winner & leader. McD is a loser 1 dimensional player. Hardly great.

The only team that will pay him more than Vans offer are teams he won’t want to play for. Contenders/ desirable cities aren’t paying him $8MM plus

Might have to eat salary, in order to move them, but it reduces the length of time they are on the books, over a buyout, plus it should increase the return, whatever that may be.
- Reubenkincade

No point, team is gonna suck for awhile.... May as well ride it out. These short term moves are what has the team where it is. We have no youth to replace them in the lineup.
