If that is the case, then like Benning from the play-in thingy, they got sucked into thinking this team is close, because of a decent stretch of play, last season, from Demko and the awesome 3 game win streak last week.

When in reality this team hasn't been relevant in well over a decade.

FA & JR should have a close look at New Jersey.

Well the tank is back on and the players are stinking up Rogers arena.

Why bother with trades now?

- Quinn's Quest

Cap reasons. They still don't know how to play together so why keep them together.

Expiring contracts that want more than what they are worth.

Daily reminder: we were just one season away from getting rid of beagle, Roussel and Eriksson contracts, and instead we decided to pick up Garland and OEL

Horvat is going to get $50+m on his next deal. He is worth that money (relatively), just not to the Canucks, because they don’t have the other player (current and prospects) to get good value from Horvat.

Or Colorado, or Tampa, or even what CBJ and Anaheim have been doing to acquire pucks.

Build through the draft, like almost all the good teams have done since the 70's. Not a hard concept to figure out, there is a 5 decade history of how to build successfully.

VAN hasn't been able to acquire relevant picks in years. They want results now, the prospect pool shows the consequences.

That's not the whole story man and you know it, they also traded away the 9OA Dylan Guenther in that deal.

No, start asap, before other teams jump at trading players, such as Anaheim etc.

This waiting to increase value mentality is how you end up signing Miller to 8 million dollar contracts, plus you risk injury, like the Tanev years and again, the other non-playoff teams are also trying to get those same assets that the Canucks so desperately need.

So 100+ minutes, that could be a whopping 6 game sample size.
- Reubenkincade

The smallest was 11 games by 2 lines.

Now at 150 minute for that line.

Out of lines that have played 125 minutes plus(37). They ranked 21st in goals for. 24th in goals against.

Other teams are laughing at Vancouver, nobody is going to help them out unless it's on their terms. It's not Rutherford gauging the market, he's just waiting for the smallest anchor to grab.

Trying to build through UFA signings and trading away picks, should have gone out the window, going back to the pre-cap days, when the Leafs and Rangers tried building that way, which was a complete failure.

Not sure why people can't understand some of this stuff. Without going outside the division, you can look at both Anaheim and San Jose, who will be trying to dump several of the same kinds of players as the Canucks.
Erik Karlson, John Klingberg, Quinn Hughes
Timo Meier, Adam Henrique, Bo Horvat

Etc. Etc.
