Except for the fact that both the things you dismissed came true

Trading for mediocre NHL players when your team is already full of mediocre NHL players makes zero sense. You can develop your own mediocre players, and maybe some of them turn out to be stars. But you can’t do those things without draft selections.

I thought you were going to mention that one kid, Ryan Johnson is in college still and another kid, Ben Roger was drafted by Ottawa.

Patrik Berglund · $3,850,000
Vladimír Sobotka · $3,500,000
Tage Thompson · $925,000
2019 1st round pick (STL - #31 - Ryan Johnson) [Conditional]*
2021 2nd round pick (STL - #49 - Ben Roger)

Without Tage Thompson coming around. Buffalo gets poop kicked in this deal for O'Reilly.

Does this look like picks and prospects

You labelled Zadina the 2nd best player in the draft. It was wrote in the book. So it literally had to be typed by you.

It's great you like about 10 players every draft. It's pretty easy to get a few right when you get a host of choices.

I only laugh when you say things like Zadina or Vilamaki being top 5 defender in the draft or that you have no interest in Makar and you wanted Vilardi, Glass, Necas and Rasmussen ahead of Pettersson.

I think I mentioned Zadina once, maybe twice, but pretty sure Dobson is who I wanted in that draft, you know a defenseman, that happens to be Right handed.

Surprised you didn't bring up Svozil, Nemec, Jiricek, McTavish, Johnson, Samuelson,or your usual stand-by of Rasmussen, who I said I wouldn't mind having, just not at the draft position the Canucks were picking at.

Oh right, why would you bring up players that you were wrong about.

I was all in on Zadina, after watching a 5 min highlight pack I was SOLD!

I had Dobson ahead of Bouchard & was my trade down target.

From the book if I had my choices in the rounds I wanted them.

The Canucks could have

Chychrun Hronek
Lindgren Dobson

as their D right now.

I had Jackson Kunz on my list as a 4th rounder. He really has sucked even for a 4th rounder.

I get a kick out of how you remember every single player I say something about, except the ones that you were totally wrong about.

It is cute.

It's the best way to form an opinion

Many years ago, I would have been happy to get a 5 minute video clip, used to rely on Bob MacKenzie and Steve Dryden and a few others.

On Pod I believe he’s going to be a very good power 3rd wheel. Boldy looks flashy but you win with warriors if the other pieces are there.

Leki needs the 2-3yrs like they said but in that time roster changes are needed to happen. A good pick if they get the line up right.

Nothing matters til the D is blown up

I tracked Makar in his AJHL Bandits days like no other player ever. Next closest was Cliff Ronning.

Yeah, Marky and Tanev really put the Flames over the hump. Getting embarrassed like that against the Oilers is worse than not making the playoffs for Flames fans.
- Load Management

They've been circling the drain in CGY since 2005. Another 1st or 2nd round exit it will be. Markstrom is not a PO goalie...at least he hasn't shown he can win the big games yet.

I don't understand what do you mean the ones I was wrong about? Which players?

I just wrote down "hot takes" from everyone that had to do with mostly 1st round picks. Sorry, if I missed your other hot takes. Canucks didn't have many 2nd round picks during the years of the book, so I didn't write down any from later rounds.

Big stretch of games coming up for the Canucks, string of four or five losses in a row and they could find themselves in a bottom five position. Connor Bedard is worth tanking for, he’s unbelievable! Almost Crosby-like!

Ya, I remember, I started researching him more, once you kept talking about him, I didn't think he would become the best defenseman in the league, I thought more of a #5 PP specialist like Quinn is.

Book didn't start till 16 but for 14 and 15 Zack Werenski is the only player I remember really wanting Van to get.

From the book. Would have had to do trade down and pick up another 2nd and not trade for Gudbranson in 2016 draft... 2017 draft.. 2018 draft

Oh the irony…

For all that we talk of picking D we took OJ OOF OOF & OOF & passed on Tkachuk. Idgaf about liking him or not either. Easily it was the biggest draft whiff.
