All fine on the surface but using up the 50 roster spots & then they play where?
- Nighthawk

Saving the roster spots for what? There is only 1 player needed to sign out of the NCAA and he has been talked about for a couple seasons now and that is Jake Livingstone, the rest can fuck off.
Like Vintage says, why would we care where they play, as long as they don't play in the most overrated league in the world, the USHL.

Aman should have been sent down at least 10 games ago.

At least with Lockwood, you know you will get some hustle and physicality every night.

- Reubenkincade

He was ok in camp, but should have been sent down and been used as an emergency call up. They should have just ridden out the Richardinson contract and kept their draft pick. Stupid shortcuts that keep costing them.

Ok, I might be wrong. The language isn’t very clear. 90 player max includes players signed and unsigned, while 50 player max are players with SPC. Fine, you win.

I still don’t get why you’re worried about where they’ll play… if they’re worth a contract they’ll play somewhere.

Yup, caused by an unnecessary signing of Mikheyev.
I dread the final assessment of this group, based on the shit they have already done.

On its own I don’t hate that co tract. Would I, being the new GM, doubled down on this group with more of the same? No, I would have trimmed the fat instead of adding more, but Mikheyev has been fine.

I don’t see him and Richardy as “the same”. But it’s the piling on of mistake after mistake after mistake.

I don’t know anything about the kid you posted. In fact, I almost never even look at the prospects you post, but if there are undrafted kids out there with the potential to contribute to either your AHL or NHL team and you basically have no prospects then what the hell. ELC’s for older players are only one or two years, if it doesn’t work out just walk away then.

Neither do I, but was just pointing out, there are kids out there, and worth taking a look at, for reasons you mentioned.

Comes down to not NHL ready & needs spots if signing reserve list at NCAA season end &/or if more contracts come back than go out if Bo is traded. Already at 47/50.

Much depends on if other trades happen 1st or concurrently & how many spots needed.

Imo which is time to sell & retool. Idk who but it’s overdue. It’s unusual that I want retooling but this roster isn’t getting it done & is getting stale. Leave Pod & Hog & Aman in Abby while the unravelling begins.

Agree with this. Contract is fine but not the direction this team should’ve taken.

This team refuses to do the obvious moves sometimes, maybe the fans should start supporting the re-tool on the fly forever strategy and then ownership might rebuild?

Signing NCAA guys down the stretch is fine, free look at them and like vintage said they’re usually older so their ELC’s only last like 17-18 months if you sign them during the spring.

If the CHL had a similar setup with their undrafted free agents then I’d love to do that with them too but I don’t believe that’s the case, at least I haven’t heard of a team signing a overage CHL’er mid-season so maybe it has happened.

No clue, saw the pic posted on HF by someone who says we should get familiar with these names while Bedard and Fanta go to Cali or Arizona

Looked at the range & kinda leaning towards Ritchie the D is too early so rather get a C.

Depressing to be looking at this range considering this team’s situation. I used to get hyped for drafts but don’t bother as much anymore.

This one is a little better. 10-17. Also, CBJ will win Bedard.

Sucks it’s a weak D draft. There is always the hope the team sucks badly in the next few games & mgmt gives up any PO hopes. I just get the feeling FA needs to smell the roses & actually endorse big change.

If you want your boy the 23yr old undrafted D make room for him. You love your NCAA development league that much then do it.

There’s rumours that he refuses to rebuild due to his ageing father being a Canucks fan. It’s a an uncomfortable thing to say but we may have to wait until he’s passed on for FA to take a more long term approach with the team.

Sad part is that this team could’ve potentially been a good one by now if FA did embrace a long term view back when Benning first took over.

I think people forget the team wanted to keep Kesler, he wanted out despite Benning asking him to change his mind. The plan was never to rebuild.

It’s similar with Bo now, Plan A is to sign him long term. Trading him is Plan B
