Upon his return, Demko should get a nice return.

I've watched 2 periods of the Tor- Phi game.

Matthews on ice doing nothing. Marner playing great.

Nylander and Tage Thompson reasons why you don't give up on players too early.

- manvanfan

Tage is the most fun player to watch in the league right now, Sabres in general are fun. Once they add the proper depth and find a goalie, they'll be a solid team.

Owen Power won't get many 1st place calder votes, but he's that dman that makes his partner look good. Plus they have Dahlin-Samuelsson

Canucks don't have a single dman who makes every dman he plays with better. They used to have a few with prime Hamhuis/Salo/Tanev but now they have none. It takes a specific type of player to play with Hughes, you can't just plug and play anyone like you could with those other 3 guys I mentioned. And the rest of the dmen can't carry a pairing either.
- Nucker101

Which is why Hughes must go, let that other Luke babysit him in New Jersey

We had now TSN analyst former Olympian candidate Frankie Corrado.

Oh and Hamonic.

The Vancouver Canucks won’t pay to move a player
Sportsnet: Elliotte Friedman on 32 Thoughts.

“So I think what the Canucks’ve realized is, they don’t want to trade away first-round picks. They don’t want to trade away any other picks really. They really want to get back the second-rounder they traded to Chicago in the Jason Richardinson deal.

They don’t want to move away players who they are going to have to incentivize people to move.

And again, it’s not a teardown, but I think what they’re willing to do is move a core player, at least one, to say, okay, maybe we can do it this way. And they’ve told people that’s not Pettersson and my first question was: wait a second, Hughes? And what people said to me was the Canucks just said, look, it’s not something we’re looking to do.

I just think that if you are interested in him, it’s going to take an enormous offer to get him out of there. But I just don’t think he’s untouchable like Pettersson appears to be.

But I think what this says to me is that the Canucks know if they’re going to switch around their mix a bit and breathe new life into their roster. They can’t just make cap dump deals without incentivizing people.”

Ah late stage Jim Rutherford arrived early in Vancouver.

Usually he makes a few brilliant moves before continuously shuffling the deck chairs trying to tread water at "Mediocre"

OEL not movable. Not sure if Martin/Burroughs hold any trade value so might as well keep them as likeable depth guys. Dermott I'm not sure holds value after that serious concussion and being waiver eligible as a fringe dman.

Pearson/Myers/Boeser/Garland I'm not sure hold much value right now, with their contracts

It's basically Horvat and Schenn from that list that would get back decent returns without having to take back cap dumps.

- Nucker101

There will be some decent goalies going at the deadline. Rannta, Gibson. So Martin has no value

Better off having Martin stay and acquire another backup when trading Demko.

If they get close to the playoffs before tdl, I would hope they take Demko, but they should be looking for a goalie.

Cap is so valuable the return doesn't even have to be decent for most of his list

The team is allowed to retain on 3 salaries, I would expect they will be having to retain on some of those contracts.

I think the list of Canucks non-ELC contracts that teams would be willing to take for nothing is a pretty damn short one
